| “Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will change our lowly body to conform with His glorious body by the power that enables Him also to bring all things into subjection to Himself.” | Philippians 3:20-21 February 24, 2013 Second Sunday of Lent Dear Friends, Change is around us and in us. A plant that is not growing is dying or dead. We cannot stand still. Lent is a special time for growth in holiness and virtue. It is all important to remember that such growth and transformation is the work of God in us. Jesus wants to refashion, renew, mold and transform us so that we resemble His image. Only at the end of time, as the Scripture text explains, will this be fully accomplished. But even now that change should be taking place. Let us pray that there will be continual, ongoing conversion and growth – the work of the Spirit – in our lives now, work that is finally brought to completion in God’s heavenly kingdom. | Grant, O Lord, that this mind may be in us, which was also in Christ Jesus. He left the heaven of Your holiness so that He might take upon Himself our sins and sorrows, and seek and save that which was lost. Stir the hearts of Your people that they may multiply their labors in the cause of charity and love, that they may minister to the wants and needs of others, and by their good works lead many to glorify our Father Who is in heaven. We ask this in His name, Christ our Lord. Amen Rev. Peter Schineller, S.J., CMMB Board of Directors | | | | | | |
