Subject: Day 9: Let our virtue correspond with our knowledge...
Intention:
Let our virtue correspond with our knowledge.
Scripture:
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. -- Romans 7:15
Reflection:
I remember visiting my cousin when he was having a party. One person who came in was using bad language and just making all sorts of noise. My cousin said, "Have I introduced you to my cousin who is going into the seminary?" All of a sudden this man turned red and started to apologize for his language. The rest of the night he kept apologizing and at the end of the night he said "Pray for me."
This man knew he should not be saying those things. It was not just knowledge that he needed. Planned Parenthood makes the statement that their, "Sex Ed" gives the children knowledge to make the right decisions. Even if they were giving them proper knowledge this would not change what is going on. This would mean that if we know something we would never sin. Knowledge without virtue is not enough. The information they give is lacking in all virtue.
It is always good to remember that all sound practice rest on sound doctrine. Instead of teaching like Planned Parenthood, we teach what is correct, and along with that the way to lead them to virtue, not to vice and then our example to them is needed to help guide them along the way. The reason Planned Parenthood teaches otherwise is only so that they will have more business in the future.
Many of the people that promote the culture of death have the knowledge of good and evil. This knowledge without caring and without virtue does not help them. Christ sent all Christians out into the world to help people to see that model of virtue and that knowledge of Caring that this 40 days will bring.
Prayer:
Lord, how many times do we turn from you and choose to follow evil ways even though we know that it is wrong. Help us to always follow the way of virtue and following the way of Jesus Christ. We also ask you to send your grace to those who act in evil ways against the children in the womb. Convert those who do not see the dignity of these children. Help them too find a life of virtue and to acknowledge the humanity and sacredness of these tiny lives. Keep us all aware of our actions, and help us to use it rightly in the cause of life and justice. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
