Over 2,000 attend Archdiocese of Piura's Pro-Life seminar

AMERICA/PERU -

Piura (Agenzia Fides) – Expectations for the number of participants expected at the Seminar for Life on "Abortion, murder or right?" were greatly exceeded. The Seminar, which took place at the Auditorium of the "Universidad Nacional de Piura," was attended by over 2,000 people from Piura, Castilla, Sullana and Paita, who attended lectures by specialists on the topic of abortion. The seminar was organized by the Archdiocese of Piura, through the Office for Justice and Peace. The purpose of this meeting, aimed at young people and adults was to propose, with objectivity and truth, a reflection on the wonderful gift of life from conception until its natural end, addressing the issue of abortion from various perspectives: scientific, legal and religious.
During the Seminar, Archbishop José Antonio Eguren Anselmi of Piura and Tumbes, President of the Bishops' Commission for Family, Children, and Life, said that "every human being, at any stage or condition of his life, is a shining image of the same reality of God's love. God makes no distinction between the newly conceived human being who is in the womb and the child or young person, the adult or the elderly person. If God who is Love does not distinguish, who are we to decide on their lives, and to end their lives through the abominable crime of abortion?" The Archbishop stressed that the Church, since its beginnings, has always stood for protection of life and proclaimed its sanctity and inviolability from conception until natural death. (CE)
