A Vote for David Hamilton is a Vote Against Religious Freedom

WASHINGTON, Nov. 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Senate is expected to vote tomorrow on cloture on the highly controversial nomination of David Hamilton to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. A final vote in the Senate is expected after 30 hours of debate.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) President Wendy Wright said, "David Hamilton's litany of left- wing activist decisions makes him a dangerous choice to sit on a federal appellate court. Judge Hamilton has earned the opposition against his nomination to a higher court. He has fundraised for ACORN, worked for the ACLU, banned prayers that name Jesus Christ but allowed prayers that name Allah, blocked a parental consent law that had been upheld by the Supreme Court, and has been soft on child predators. Any senator who votes for David Hamilton is voting against religious freedom, parental rights, and the safety of our children."

Mario Diaz, Esq., CWA's Policy Director for Legal Issues, said, "When a judge tells Americans who they can pray to, he violates the most fundamental principles of freedom, and he should not be rewarded with a promotion.

"By voting for Judge Hamilton, a Senator sends the message that it is okay for the government to be hostile to religion, an idea that has been emphatically rejected in law. They will be saying that it is okay for a judge to ignore precedent and still be promoted to a life-time appointment."
