CNN Poll: 62% Want All or Most Abortions Made Illegal
A new CNN national poll of Americans finds results that are almost identical to a Gallup survey earlier this year, and it shows 62% of Americans want all or most abortions made illegal.

CNN asked the question, Do you think abortion should be legal under any circumstances, legal under only certain circumstances, or illegal in all circumstances? The survey found 25 percent of Americans want all abortions legal while 21 percent want all abortions illegal, and it had a large group of 53 percent of Americans saying abortions should be legal only under certain circumstances.

However, with a large percentage of Americans opposing abortions except in cases such as taking of the life of the mother, or cases of rape or incest both of which, combined, constitute less than two percent of all abortions in the nation, according to the Guttmacher Institute most Americans truly want 100% of 98 percent of the 1.2 million abortions a year made illegal.

A follow-up question CNN asked showed that to be the case.

When asked, Do you think abortion should be legal under any circumstances, legal under only certain circumstances, legal in a few circumstances or illegal in all circumstances? CNN found the same 25 percent and 21 percent want either all abortions legal or all illegal. But, breaking down that 53 percent group further, CNN shows just 12 percent want abortions legal in most circumstances while 41 percent want most abortions to be made illegal.

In total, 62 percent of Americans want all or most abortions to be prohibited while only 37 percent of Americans want all or most abortions kept legal the position of President Barack Obama and Planned Parenthood, the nation s biggest abortion business. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/15/cnn-poll-62-want-all-or-most-abortions-made-illegal/

Catholic Diocese: Father Pavone Not Accused of Wrongdoing
A new statement issued by the Diocese of Amarillo in the controversial debate over its bishop s call for Father Frank Pavone to come back to serve as a priests there indicates the Priests for Life leader is not accused of wrongdoing.

As LifeNews has reported, the pro-life movement has been abuzz with the news that Amarillo Bishop Patrick J. Zurek of the Diocese of Amarillo has asked Father Pavone to come back to serve in the diocese and has temporarily prevented him from exercising his duties as the head of Priests for Life. Zurek alleges, with little supporting evidence, that there are financial irregularities at Priests for Life despite annual audits from one of the nation s top accounting firms.

Yesterday, Priests for Life released a new statement responding to some of the misreporting in the mainstream media making it appear Pavone has been suspended as a Catholic priest or from the organization. Priests for Life said it was widely misreported in various Catholic and secular media that the Most Reverend Patrick Zurek, Bishop of Amarillo, had suspended Rev. Frank Pavone, a priest of his diocese, and put him on leave.

Now, the Diocese, in a new statement obtained by LifeNews and written by reverend Monsignior Harold Waldow, Vicar of Clergy for the Diocese, Pavone is said to be accused of no wrongdoings.

As the Vicar of Clergy for the Diocese of Amarillo and the Moderator of Curia I want to publicly state that Reverend Frank Pavone of Priests for Life is a priest in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church. He has all the faculties for ministry that every priest of our diocese has in and for the Diocese of Amarillo, Waldow writes.

I would also like to clarify a point that because there is a dispute about the auditing process and the complete audit for all the entities of Priests for Life, Rachel s Vineyard, and the Missionaries of the Gospel of Life does not mean that Father Pavone is being charged with any malfeasance or being accused of any wrong doing with the financial matters of Priests for Life, the statement continues. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/15/catholic-diocese-father-pavone-not-accused-of-wrongdoing/

I Survived a Failed Abortion, Now My Second Baby is Coming
How could my biological mother have ever fathomed that as she attempted to abort me in 1977 that she was not only ending the life of her child, but she was wiping out every future generation to come from that one life-her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her great-great grandchildren?

She may not have been able to fathom it, the thousands of women who end the lives of their children everyday through abortion may not be able to fathom it, but as an abortion survivor now pregnant with my second child, I can fathom it.

In fact, I can t get my mind off of it. This is the reality that I live with every day. I should not be here, all in the name of someone else s choice, all in the name of a woman s right. Yet I, as a baby girl, I didn t have a right. Our 3 ½ year old daughter, Olivia, and our 2nd child, due to be born in May 2012, would never have existed, would never have had life, because of that one choice thirty-four years ago.

In August of 1977, while I was developing in what should have been the safest place in the world, my biological mother s womb, I was subjected to the toxic salt solution of a saline infusion abortion over a five day period. After that poisonous solution was delivered into the amniotic fluid surrounding me, I was bathed in it, while my biological mother must have nervously, worriedly, awaited the sign from me within her womb that I had successfully been scalded to death by it, for the signs that my tiny life had been successfully snuffed out. On the fifth day of the abortion procedure, after she re-entered the hospital to complete the abortion by having her labor induced, so thereby, her lifeless child could be dispelled from her womb, I was delivered. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/15/i-survived-a-failed-abortion-now-my-second-baby-is-coming/

Abby Johnson: Father Pavone Saves Babies, Helped Heal Me
Fr. Frank Pavone has been a staple in my house for many years even during my Planned Parenthood years. Every week I would record and watch Defending Life. I enjoyed watching him, even if I disagreed. I loved how outspoken he was and how he didn t seem to live in the gray you know, everything seemed black and white for him right and wrong was clear.

I remember watching him during the Terri Schiavo tragedy. I was drawn to his gentle spirit. I had seen two sides to him or was it? One side was so unabashedly, unapologetically and passionately against abortion. The other was a man who had an incredibly compassionate heart and a kind spirit this was the man who was helping a family grieve the loss of their daughter. But now, I see they are the same. Fr. Frank is for life all life. His compassion for life fuels his passion.

A few years later, I looked out my office window and couldn t believe it. Was that really Fr. Frank Pavone standing and praying outside MY abortion clinic?? I looked harder, but couldn t get a clear view because of our iron fence. I ran to the front of the building so I could look at the security camera. I zoomed in and there he was the priest I had been watching for many years. He had been streaming into my home week after week, all while I was working at an abortion clinic. I had two employees who were Catholic. They recognized him as well. I had an unshakable desire to sprint outside and introduce myself. After all, I felt like I knew him. I felt a connection to him, as strange as that may sound.

I asked my co-workers if they thought it would be inappropriate to go outside to meet him. They gave me a bewildered look and said, NO! You run an abortion clinic! He doesn t want to meet you! I figured they were right. I went back to my office and watched him pray outside of my clinic. When he left, I felt like I had missed an opportunity that I would always regret. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/15/abby-johnson-father-pavone-saves-babies-helped-heal-me/

Couple Gets $4.5M Because Doctor Didn t Suggest Abortion
A Florida couple will receive $4.5 million after winning a wrongful birth lawsuit claiming their son, born with no arms and one leg, should have become a victim of abortion. They complained the doctor in the case should have detected the physical disabilities before birth and suggested an abortion.

Ana Mejia and Rodolfo Santana filed suit in regards to the birth of their son Bryan, who is now a happy three-year-old boy. They asked a Palm Beach County Circuit Court jury for the money to be able to raise their son by requiring a Palm Beach Gardens obstetrician and the medical company she works for to pay $9 million towards the costs of his upbringing and damages for their pain and suffering.

Dr. Marie Morel and OB/GYN Specialists of the Palm Beaches were found to have failed to diagnose the disability and the jury awarded the couple $4.5 million. They determined that Morel was 85 percent responsible and the ultrasound tech 15 percent responsible for not informing the parents of the problems during the pregnancy.

I have no words, Mejia said after receiving the jury s decision, according to the Palm Beach Post newspaper.

Mark Rosen, an attorney who represents the clinic and Morel said an appeal would be filed in the case.

During the two week trial, Mejia and Santana both indicated they would have opted for an abortion had they known the severity of the physical disabilities of their son. They claimed the ultrasound tech at OB/GYN Specialists of the Palm Beaches and Perinatal Specialists of the Palm Beaches did not take proper ultrasounds that could have established the problems as the pregnancy unfolded. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/15/couple-gets-4-5m-because-doctor-didnt-suggest-abortion/

Bill Would Fund Abstinence After Obama Admin Denies Grants
Newly-proposed legislation in Congress would restore federal funding for abstinence education as the Obama administration continues to discriminate against grants to programs that promote abstinence over sex education.

Recently, the Department of Health and Human Services announced new funding opportunities for initiatives on the subject, but included a caveat that grants would no go to agencies promoting abstinence education. Applicants for the FOA must include a written statement, according to a National Catholic Register report, that abstinence education is not part of the program, because the Obama administration considers it an unallowable activity.

Organizations receiving funding under the program must make a commitment to not use funds for unauthorized activities, including, but not limited to, an abstinence-education program. Some $75 million has been authorized under the Claims Resolution Act of 2010 for the programs.

Valerie Huber, director of the National Abstinence Education Association, told NCR that the policy is discriminatory, saying, Preventing youth from receiving sexual-abstinence skills is very troubling and completely ignores the body of research that now links teen sex to future divorce in marriage.

Huber says the ratio of federal taxpayer spending on sex education programs is now 16-1 against abstinence education. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/15/bill-would-fund-abstinence-after-obama-admin-denies-grants/

Pro-Life Advocates to Bring Live 4D-Ultrasounds to Congress
Ultrasound technology gets much of the credit when pro-life advocates point to the ways in which public opinion on abortion has moved towards the pro-life side over the last decades. Now, pro-life advocates will literally to take ultrasounds to members of Congress to show them the humanity of the unborn child.

The Voices from the Womb project co-sponsored by pro-life advocates Brandi Swindell and Rev. Patrick Mahoney will kick-off their national campaign in the Congressional Auditorium on October 13. This project will feature live real time ultrasounds being performed on women in the first, second and third trimesters of pregnancy so close to Congress that members of the House and Senate can walk to see them.

All 535 members of Congress and the public will be invited to the presentation, where they can witness the amazing technology revealing the intricate development of human life at its various stages before birth.

After the showing on Capitol Hill, Voices from the Womb will begin a national tour performing live ultrasounds in schools, churches, state capitals and public hearings as a means of educating the public on fetal development and encouraging people to oppose abortion.

The project is being sponsored by The Stanton Project with co-sponsors the Christian Defense Coalition and the National Pro-life Center and organizers hope it will revolutionize the debate on abortion as elected officials and Americans see the humanity of the pre-born child. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/15/pro-life-advocates-to-bring-live-4d-ultrasounds-to-congresspro-life-advocates-to-bring-live-4d-ultrasounds-to-congress/
