CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer: "I do will it. Be made clean."

Weekly prayer reflection for Winter

“Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out His hand, touched him, and said to him, ‘I do will it. Be made clean’.”

Mark 1:4

Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Friends,
One of the first miracles of Jesus was to cure the leper.  Leprosy or Hansen’s Disease remains a reality in our world, with over 200,000 afflicted by it, even if it can be treated.  And while we have made remarkable treatment in the care and prevention of AIDS, an estimated 34 million people today have AIDS.
We have just been reminded of this with the observance of World Day of the Sick.  May we take a few moments to pray for the tens of thousands of caregivers, the health workers, nurses, and doctors who minister to those with serious illness such as leprosy and AIDS.   Let us add a prayer for the scientists in laboratories engaged in research that can bring healing and hope to those suffering from illness and disease.

Lord Jesus Christ, Who went about doing good and healing all manners of sickness, give strength, wisdom and gentleness to all Your servants, our physicians and nurses, that they may not only heal but bless, and shine as lamps of hope in the darkest hours of distress and fear.  We ask this in Your name, You Who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen
