Komen May Continue to Fund Some Planned Parenthood Grants
Komen for the Cure has released a new statement responding to the massive national criticism they have received for cutting funding from the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

After the decision, Komen received massive praise from the pro-life movement with pro-life advocates of all stripes heaping praise on Komen, making donations and starting grassroots efforts to defend the breast cancer charity from criticism from the abortion business and its supporters. This new statement, meant to clarify its decision-making, is causing confusion and upsetting pro-life advocates who switched their loyalty to Komen after having boycotting the organization for years.

The following statement comes from Komen president Nancy Brinker: http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/03/komen-may-continue-to-fund-some-planned-parenthood-grants/

Putting Komen Aside, Planned Parenthood is Public Enemy #1
The Komen-Planned Parenthood controversy has put the subject of abortion at the forefront of the public debate in a way even the March for Life and the recent 39th anniversary of Roe could only hope to have done. Even the current Republican presidential contest is paling in comparison to the intense back and forth between pro-abortion and pro-life advocates over Komen s decision to cut Planned Parenthood funding and its potential reversal.

If LifeNews has received one email asking for our opinion about whether Komen caved, we literally have received thousands. This editorial is an attempt to put everything in perspective.

FACT: Komen is not a pro-life organization.

When Komen announced its decision to change its policy to not funding organizations that are under formal investigation or that act as pass-through agencies rather than providing direct support for women s health, some pro-life advocates went beyond merely thanking them and acted as if Komen had suddenly become a pro-life group worthy of unreserved support. It is not.

Komen is, or is attempting to be, an abortion-neutral organization. As such, it will likely continue making decisions that disappoint pro-life advocates as it attempts to find a non-existent middle ground in the debate between those who cherish the right to life of unborn children and the well-being of their mothers and those who favor their destruction. If you want to put your trust fully in an organization that has as its only mission the betterment of the health of women and unborn children, support your favorite pro-life group (or LifeNews) or your local pregnancy center. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/03/putting-komen-aside-planned-parenthood-is-public-enemy-1/

Planned Parenthood Closing Abortion Business in Iowa
The Planned Parenthood abortion business is closing an abortion business in Storm Lake, Iowa, where it uses telemed or webcam abortions to put women in a dangerous situation of getting an abortion without a doctor present in person.

Sue Thayer, a former Planned Parenthood staffer who ran the clinic and recently talked about how Planned Parenthood puts women at risk in the telemed abortion drug process, was elated by the news that the abortion clinic she ran is closing. Thayer led the fall 2011 40 Days for Life campaign outside the Planned Parenthood abortion center.

Now, the facility is closing its doors for good come March 1.

Wow! Sue said in an email to Shawn Carney of 40 Days for Life. Of course the clinic is closing! God hears our prayers and He answers! No more telemed abortions on Erie Street! Yay God! http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/06/planned-parenthood-closing-abortion-business-in-iowa/

Obama Declares War on Pro-Lifers in Conscience Battleg
Now that the battle over Komen and Planned Parenthood is dying down, pro-life advocates are turning their attention to renewing their fight against the new mandate pro-abortion President Barack Obama put in place.

Last month, the Obama Administration issued a statement re-iterating the contraceptive mandate requiring all insurance providers cover the full range of FDA-approved drugs and devices would remain intact. This mandate, issued in August, includes drugs that work after conception to destroy life rather than prevent it. The statement included a postponement of one year for religious groups that do not already carry contraceptives and additionally would not be exempted under last year s narrow definition of religious employer.

The mandate not only violates such existing conscience protections on abortion such as the Hyde/Weldon Amendment because drugs that can cause abortions like ella and Plan B are included, but it also violates the principles of the Church Amendments which protects conscience rights for those who object to contraceptives and other services on moral or religious grounds. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/06/obama-declares-war-on-pro-lifers-in-conscience-battle/

Planned Parenthood Bashed Komen to Hide Abusive Practices
Of the many incongruities arising from last week s savaging of the Susan G. Komen Foundation by Planned Parenthood and it s minions, the greatest single seeming incongruity is the disproportionate attack on Komen in light of the paltry sum of money involved.

Planned Parenthood is a $1 Billion per year organization who stood to loose $600,000 in Komen grant money. Organizations routinely loose that much money, and more when grants are not renewed, and they are organizations for whom $600,000 is the difference between life and death for the organization.

For Planned Parenthood, the loss of Komen funding represented 6/10 of 1/1000 of their budget. So what s going on here?

It wasn t the money at issue, it s what Komen s support means for the organization. Planned Parenthood makes their money performing abortions, mostly on young people. Former Planned Parenthood clinic director, Abby Johnson, tells of how the corporate model at PP was built around abortions.

The charade of concern for women s breast health is the only socially acceptable vestige left for the organization s bruised and tattered reputation. Planned Parenthood performed manual breast exams and referred women to mammogram centers. In some instances, it appears that they paid for the mammograms. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/06/planned-parenthood-bashed-komen-to-hide-abortion-breast-cancer/

Mitt Romney Captures Victory in Nevada Republican Caucus
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney won another victory Saturday night by capturing a win in the Nevada caucuses by a substantial double-digit margin over three other GOP candidates.

With votes from 71 percent of the precinct caucuses tallied, Romney had 48 percent, Newt Gingrich 23 percent, Ron Paul 19 percent and Rick Santorum 11 percent. Romney won a majority of very conservative voters (51%). He defeated Newt Gingrich (40-31%) among strong Tea Party voters. He won 48% of the vote among evangelicals (48 27%) over Newt Gingrich.

Like Florida, Mitt Romney won handily among voters who said electability was the most important quality in a candidate and he won handily among voters who said the economy is the top issue. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/05/mitt-romney-captures-victory-in-nevada-republican-caucus/

Planned Parenthood Fired Staffer Who Put Women Over Money
Sue Thayer, a former Planned Parenthood staffer from Storm Lake, Iowa, wrote an opinion column that appeared in the Washington Times last week about how she was fired from the Planned Parenthood abortion business. She said the firing, which took place last year, came when she refused to put making money ahead of women s health interests.

Thayer said the Planned Parenthood practice of telemed abortions is ultimately what led to her letting go. So-called webcam abortions are when Planned Parenthood violates FDA guidelines and prevents women from having an in-person meeting with the abortion practitioner prior to getting and using the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug that has killed dozens of women worldwide and injured thousands in the United States alone.

Instead, women are given instructions via video conference something Thayer objected to as a Planned Parenthood director, as she explains: . http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/06/planned-parenthood-fired-staffer-who-put-women-over-money/

Study: Media Back Planned Parenthood, Ignore Obama Pro-Life Attacks

Komen Foundation, the U.S. s largest breast cancer charity, announced on February 1 that it would no longer be donating to Planned Parenthood, the Big Three networks ABC, CBS, NBC rushed to the defense of the left-wing organization, which is the largest abortion conglomerate in the United States. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/06/study-media-back-planned-parenthood-ignore-obama-pro-life-attacks/
