Religious liberty VICTORY!

Thought you'd like some good news!

Well, The Cardinal Newman Society has had a lot of it lately.
The U.S. House of Representatives voted 303-114 to halt the Obama administration's dangerous power grab over colleges and universities.
The bill--which is now in the Senate--overturns an Education Department regulation that could cripple truly faithful Catholic colleges.

Many state legislatures have already trampled on the rights of Catholic institutions.

By forcing states to aggressively scrutinize colleges for state charters, the Obama administration would open the door to bigotry against colleges that...
...teach morality in the classroom...

...refuse to give benefits to same-sex partners...

...or refuse to include abortion-causing drugs in employee health plans!
Who has spoken against this? Even while helping lead the fight against the terrible HHS mandate for insurance coverage of abortifacients, sterilization and contraception...
...The Cardinal Newman Society has opposed the Education Department's dangerous regulation, together with Evangelical and Protestant leaders.
And now there's another victory in New Hampshire for faithful Catholic colleges!
Your Cardinal Newman Society has been fighting threats to the religious liberty of Catholic colleges for several years... long before the HHS mandate fight!
We need your support to continue, while also fighting for fidelity and Catholic identity on America's Catholic college campuses.

Because it's the most faithful Catholic colleges--the ones promoted by The Cardinal Newman Society--that are at the forefront of the fight for religious liberty.

The presidents of Belmont Abbey College and The Catholic University of America were front-and-center in Congressional hearings on the HHS mandate.

While Notre Dame and the Catholic Health Association whimper about the mandate, the Newman Guide colleges are filing lawsuits!

And George Harne, president of College of Saint Mary Magdalen, stood bravely before the New Hampshire state legislature to demand relief from the state's own contraceptive mandate.
That courage paid off last week, when New Hampshire's House voted to exempt religious institutions from insurance for contraceptives!
This is what happens when faithful Catholics stand strong!

And we need your help to keep strong in defense of Catholic education--from government threats and from internal corruption!
Please, support us in our struggle today with a generous contribution. Click here to make a contribution!
The Cardinal Newman Society has been battling numerous religious liberty threats...
...from the HHS contraceptive mandate...

...from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission...

...from the National Labor Relations Board...

...and from the states, the ACLU, secularist groups, and more!
Meanwhile, we continue to work toward stronger Catholic identity, and we have good news on that front as well!
Villanova University canceled its workshop with a lewd gay-rights "performance artist" after The Cardinal Newman Society exposed the scandal!

Boston College terminated the contract of a priest in the theology department who had resigned from active ministry to protest Catholic teaching!

Christian Brothers University withdrew its invitation to a theology lecturer who preached at a same-sex "wedding"!

The University of Mary--which has greatly strengthened its Catholic identity in recent years--signed a historic contract with a state university to bring Catholic college courses to Arizona!
Help us keep the good news coming! Please, support The Cardinal Newman Society today.
We couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to serve the Church in this way. Thank you!

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Patrick J. Reilly
President, The Cardinal Newman Society

P.S. I just got word of another serious scandal at the University of Notre Dame, involving one of their top philosophy professors. Already The Cardinal Newman Society is reporting the problem and seeking solutions. Please help us continue this urgent work of renewing Catholic identity at Catholic colleges with a generous gift today!
