Paternal liberals endanger blacks' future
By Paul Rondeau
Unlike liberal Chris Matthews at MSNBC, who feels a thrill up his leg every time Obama speaks, Dr. Alveda King does not. Alveda King is the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. and director of African American Outreach at Priests for Life. King says Obama's use of her uncle's Bible at his swearing in "was not symbolic. It was ironic."

"Obama's support of abortion, same-sex marriage, and free contraception under his unpopular Obamacare reform is difficult to reconcile with my uncle's legacy as a man of God," King explained. "I had hoped and prayed that when the president handled the Bible, it would accidentally open to where it says 'Choose life' or 'God hates the shedding of innocent blood.' I was hoping it would just shake him up a little bit."

Judge overturns Arizona law barring Planned Parenthood funding
Reuters
A federal judge has overturned an Arizona law that sought to block funding through the state for Planned Parenthood's healthcare clinics because the group also performs abortions. U.S. District Court Judge Neil Wake ruled that the controversial measure signed into law last May by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, a Republican, unlawfully robs individuals on Medicaid of the ability to choose healthcare services. "The Arizona Act violates the freedom of choice provision of the Medicaid Act precisely because every Medicaid beneficiary has the right to select any qualified health care provider," Wake ruled in a decision released on Friday.

New owner of Tiller clinic: 'Abortion is about motherhood'
LifeSiteNews
The woman trying to reopen George Tiller's abortion clinic has claimed that women who choose abortion are motivated by feelings of motherhood in a new interview with a left-wing magazine. "Abortion is about motherhood," said Julie Burkhart, who hopes to open South Wind Women's Center on the same grounds as Tiller's late-term abortion facility, in an interview with Mother Jones. She said "abortion care" is "about motherhood, because by and large women coming in to have abortions are concerned about the kind of life and the future for their children." . . . "Women are thinking in a very responsible manner when choosing that," she said. "In truth
these are very well thought out decisions women are making. They're taking responsibility for their lives and the lives of their future families."

Are test-tube babies at greater health risk?
The Telegraph
For couples considering IVF, new research suggesting that it could be to blame for a rise in birth defects over the last 25 years might give pause for thought. The study, published last week in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, had two crucial----and related----findings. The first was that in 14 countries across Europe there was a 50 percent rise in the number of multiple births between 1984 and 2007, most of which were ascribed by researchers to the increasing use of hi-tech fertility treatments. Secondly, in the same period, the rate of birth defects among these babies almost doubled, from 5.9 to 10.7 per 10,000 births.
