Dear Friends For Life,
[Two Dads, or Two Moms, or By a Mom or Dad] In the past decade there have been many brief reports indicating that there is no difference between the emotional stability of a child raised in any of the above homes. Now a large national study correctly challenges this claim and reports that Americans now age 18-39, who grew up in families where either parent had a same sex partner, these children faired significantly worse on twenty-five of forty measures. For example they were three-and-half times more likely to be unemployed and four times more likely to be on public assistance. Children reared by same sex adults were more likely to have been arrested, to have pleaded guilty to a minor criminal offense, to have smoked marijuana and to have thought about suicide in the previous year. Homosexual activist have challenged this study, however their own studies which showed otherwise were very small and unrepresentative samples. This one is legit and it should be watched carefully.[Depo-Provera Increasing Breast Cancer] In a recent study of 1,028 women age 20 to 34, Cancer Research reported in the April, 2012 issue, that recent users of Depo-Provera for twelve months or more had a statistically significant 2.2 fold increase risk of developing invasive breast cancer. The authors called it the first large scales US study to examine the link between Depo-Provera and breast cancer. They note that it is the fifth major study to observe this increase. These studies averaged an increase of 1.5 to 2.3 fold increased risk of breast cancer.
God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(Life): "How low can they go?" - This video NOT NICE. It is creepy. And patronising. And sexist. And elitist. And advocating substance abuse. But, as a "celebration" of Roe v. Wade it is instructive regarding the moral decadence attendant on, and driving, the culture of death.

ITEM #1: South Korea tops Asia in "unstoppable" scourge of suicide
Every day, about 43 people take their own life in the country. School- and work-related stress are among the main causes. Social alienation and grief induced by suicide in the family are other causes. South Korea has Asia's highest suicide rate. The government should "work to counter the trend," said Mgr Lazarus You Heung-sik, bishop of Daejeon. Given the country's low birth rate, "If the [high suicide] trend continues, the whole society could find itself on the edge of a cliff."
****************************************
ITEM #2: New study further proves the inherent humanity of the unborn
Abortion advocates have a big problem with pro-lifers describing the personhood of the unborn. Telling pregnant women about the inherent humanity of the children in their wombs can cause big problems for the abortion industry, so naturally, it's important to keep the truth about unborn babies quiet.

ITEM #3: Catholic ministry expanding post abortion, reconciliation services
A woman's decision to have an abortion, by force or free will, can be mired in pain and guilt. It can also have consequences long after the ordeal is over. While the Catholic Church is firm in its pro-life stance, it has also made inroads reaching out to women and men that have suffered through trauma as a result of an abortion.

ITEM #4: Wanting One More
After 9 years of marriage, our little Thérèse Marie arrived on the feast-day of the Archangels in 2009. Great was our joy after all these years of waiting, longing, mourning, hoping and doubting that this would ever happen. We finally held our little daughter in our arms after 33 hours of labor ending in a C-section. I came to experience what so many mothers had told me about: the deep happiness of having a child, making you forget the pains of labor, and yearning to go through them all over again to have more children.
****************************************
ITEM #5: A Precis of the Catholic Teaching on Homosexuality and Homosexual Acts
The Catholic Church's teaching on homosexuality is one rooted in what philosophers call natural law, but also illuminated by divine revelation. This means that the Church understands her teaching to be grounded in those truths that unaided human reason can affirm about the nature and purpose of human sexuality, but that what God has revealed in both Sacred Scripture and Tradition on the matter provides additional light.

ITEM #6: Legislation Creating "Same-Sex Marriage": What's At Stake?
At the beginning of the New Year, 2013, a law is being proposed in the General Assembly to change the legal definition of marriage in Illinois to accommodate those of the same sex who wish to "marry" one another.
****************************************
ITEM #7 Margaret Sanger Desanitized
Margaret Sanger passed away in the year 1966, one week before her 87th birthday. Though she was an atheist, funeral services were held at the Episcopal Church in Tucson, Arizona where she was eulogized as a "good, fighting saint who experienced martyrdom." The Reverend George Ferguson went on to say that "all the elements of sainthood were personified many times in her life."

ITEM #8: They Said 'No!': What happened when 12 nurses refused to participate in abortions
Nurses in a big city hospital never know what a day's shift will bring – straightforward cases or medical miracles, major crises or minor first aid. Whatever her station, whatever the duty of the moment, a nurse tries to ready herself for anything. But some things, you just can't see coming.
****************************************
ITEM #9: Mother Rejects Abortion After Seeing Baby's Smile in Ultrasound
For decades, ultrasound has had the power to convey the beauty and reality of human life before birth. Conveying that power, the London Daily Mail newspaper today reports on the story of a mother who rejected abortion and chose life for her baby after seeing him smile in an ultrasound.

ITEM #10: Six Reasons Why Men Can Speak on Abortion
The injustice of abortion is the free choice of a woman who sees it working towards her good. This has lead to the common call for men to remove themselves from the debate surrounding the injustice. It is, after all, a woman's issue. While I sympathize with the thought, it doesn't hold to the light of reason.

ITEM #11: China's ageing population: 100-year waiting list for Beijing nursing home
Methuselah himself might have struggled to win a place at one of Beijing's most popular old people's homes: the waiting list is currently 100 years long.
****************************************ITEM #12: Grim new figures from the UK: More than 1.7 million human embryos created for IVF pregnancies have been discarded without being used
BOfficial statistics show that almost half of embryos used to help a women conceive through in vitro fertilisation were thrown away during or after the process. The embryos are created from female eggs and male sperm during the IVF process, with some introduced into the womb, put into storage, discarded as unwanted or used in scientific experiments. Campaigners last night described the figures, released in response to questions from peers about the level of waste generated in hospitals and fertility clinics, as disturbing.
