Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends For Life,

Mother's world falls apart after Planned Parenthood hides humanity of her child

The stinging tears and palpable heartbreak of a young woman deceived by Planned Parenthood say more than a book crammed with words ever could convey about the harm done to women when they are deprived of a glimpse of the humanity of their children before aborting them.

"I just got back from Planned Parenthood," a visibly distraught young lady says in a YouTube video posted on January 19. She had just picked up records from a Planned Parenthood abortion that happened six years earlier. She says Planned Parenthood falsified the records regarding her age at the time of the abortion.

Struggling to maintain her composure, she sifts through the abortion records until she finds the ultrasound report. It indicates that she was offered and took advantage of the opportunity to view the image of her son prior to the abortion. She flatly denies that.

Planned Parenthood throws out 'choice' with 6.3 million dead babies

After decades of couching the murder of the preborn in terms of a woman's choice, Planned Parenthood is throwing out the "choice" rhetoric with the dead babies. Having killed more than 6.3 million precious, innocent children in the name of choice - an amount equal to the combined population of Chicago and Los Angeles - the abortion giant has recently conducted enough focus groups and polls to realize that the "choice" horse cannot win the battle of words in today's culture.

(The Difference is LIFE) "Let anyone who comes to you go away feeling better and happier. Everyone should see goodness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile. Joy shows from the eyes. It appears when we speak and walk. It cannot be kept closed inside us. It reacts outside. Joy is very infectious." -Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.

(Life): "Pope offers support to pro-life initiative to give legal recognition to human embryos"A new pro-life initiative seeks to give legal recognition to human fetuses within the European Union, as the campaign to collect more than a million signatures in support begins in several countries.

ITEM #1: Pope to bishops: 'Be courageous' in face of 'extremely intolerant' secularism

"Inevitably," the pope said, faithful bishops will be "beaten by those who live lives opposed to the Gospel, and then we can be grateful for having been judged worthy to share in the passion of Christ".

****************************************

ITEM #2: Not 'War on Women,' 'War on Women's Fertility,' Scholar Says

There is not a "war on women," but there is a "war on women's fertility," Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, an economist and president of the Ruth Institute, believes. Rather than view fertility as a problem to be solved, Morse argued Friday, fertility should be viewed as a gift from God. Colleges and labor markets should, therefore, adjust to the biological needs of women.

ITEM #3: Horrific Reports Of Cannibalism Breaking Out Of North Korea

While it's certainly not the first allegation of cannibalism to come from North Korea, it's equally as disturbing as those that preceded it. Troubling reports of a rise in starvation - and cannibalism - have emerged inside of a nation that continues to be intensely-secretive and shut off from the wider global community. According to an independent outlet called Asia Press, North Koreans are so desperate that they are increasingly turning to corpses and even murdering their own children for food.

ITEM #4: Warning: Many childhood vaccines contain aborted human fetal protein, DNA

According to the manufacturer-produced package inserts included with each vaccine batch, many vaccines are made with disturbing ingredients like aborted human fetal proteins, altered DNA material, and even genetically-modified (GM) human albumin.

****************************************

ITEM #5: Koreans 'Biggest Clients of Prostitutes in Southeast Asia'

The conclusion comes from research by the Korean Institute of Criminology that included field surveys in Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines, study of UN reports and other relevant documents, interviews with local social workers and neighbors, and arrest records at local police stations. According to the KIC, social workers in those countries claim that Korean tourists outnumber all other nationalities in terms of the frequency of their visits to prostitutes. There are no hard data to support those claims, but a tally of tourists who frequent bars linked to prostitution and accounts of sex workers appear to confirm them.

****************************************

ITEM #6: America's Baby Bust

The nation's falling fertility rate is the root cause of many of our problems. And it's only getting worse.

****************************************

ITEM #7 Me of Little Faith

I talked with a young man (I'll call him Samuel) who had just exited from the abortion facility. He was a nice looking man, clean shaven, neatly dressed, in his 20's or 30's, strong. I thought I recalled talking to the couple when they entered and giving them literature. Now sitting in his car, he looked so sad... hurting... somber. But composed. He was smoking a cigarette (not unusual for the fathers to do that), but it didn't look to be something he did very much. She, the mother of his child, had just gone "to the back" (to the abortion room). Now the wait.

****************************************

ITEM #8: Please Step Back From the Assisted-Suicide Ledge

If physician-assisted suicide really represents a good choice, we need to ask: Why should only physicians be able to participate? Why should only physicians be allowed to undermine public trust in their profession through these kinds of death-dealing activities? Why not include police? If a sick person expresses a wish to die, the police could be notified, and an officer would arrive bearing a suitable firearm. He would load it with ammunition, cock the gun and place it on the bedside stand of the sick patient. After giving instruction on the best way to angle the barrel, the officer would depart, and the patient could then pick up the device and take it from there - police-assisted suicide.

****************************************

ITEM #9: Is smoking immoral?

What does the Catholic Church teach about the morality of smoking cigarettes? It certainly does not explicitly condemn smoking as intrinsically evil; indeed, it teaches that the use of tobacco could be temperate. The Catechism states: "The virtue of temperance disposes us to avoid every kind of excess: the abuse of food, alcohol, tobacco, or medicine."(2290) This indicates that there could be some moderate use of tobacco that may be moral.

ITEM #10: UN report renews 'family planning' advocacy

Now, the United Nations wants us all to pay for women's contraceptives - and make it just another of the universal human rights.

****************************************

ITEM #11: The Erosion of Ethics in Organ Transplantation

Organ donation can certainly be a supreme act of generosity.

****************************************

ITEM #12: Marriage equality or the destruction of difference?

Important essay by philosopher Roger Scruton and policy thinker Philip Blond against gay marriage.
