National pro-abortion group rates California's congressional delegation; most Democrats get 100% grade, most Republicans 0%
NARAL Pro-Choice America, one of the most powerful pro-abortion lobbying groups in the U.S., has published on its web site the group's 2006 ratings for members of Congress from every state. There were few surprises for California's congressional delegation: With a few noteworthy exceptions, virtually all Democrats received a 100% pro-abortion rating, and virtually all Republicans received a grade of 0%.
NARAL's website reported that its ratings were based on votes taken in the second session of the 109th Congress, and included the confirmation of Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court, "parental-involvement mandates," including bills criminalizing the transportation of minors across state lines to obtain an abortion, attempts to restrict use of the "morning-after pill," and bans on federal funding of abortions at military hospitals, federal prisons, and for recipients of Medicaid and Medicare.
