STATEN ISLAND, NY, May 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of PFL and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, today recalled the late statesman Jack Kemp.
"Jack Kemp will be remembered most for his leadership in economic policy, but his most lasting legacy is his great compassion," said Fr. Pavone. "The Kemp-Kasten Amendment saved untold lives by preventing taxpayer funding of organizations that participate in forced abortions. There are people alive today because of Jack Kemp."
"Mr. Kemp was a man who loved God, loved his country, and loved all people," added Dr. King. "He always reached out to the poor and the disadvantaged and he sought to protect the most vulnerable, the unborn. He was and always will be an inspiration to those who care for our brothers and sisters of all colors and stages of life."
