Reid Smuggles "Hate Crimes" Bill into Senate This Week / Sotomayor Hearing Update

We have learned that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is planning to rush the so-called Hate Crimes bill to the floor of the Senate. The bill is planned to be fast-tracked as an amendment to a spending bill that Congress must pass in order to fund our troups.
This sneak attack is being planned because the opposition is growing and the bill may not survive on its own. Just a few weeks ago, we delivered 100,000 petitions against the bill to the senators.
Call Sen. Reid and your own senators right now and tell them you are very disappointed in the attempt to hide this bill from the American people. This Hate Crimes bill is so controversial that it must be considered as a stand-alone bill, not rushed as an amendment. The bill discriminates against some classes of crime victims and gives special rights based "sexual orientation" and "gender identity."

Call Reid’s D.C. Senate office: 202-224-3542
Call and email your Senators (find your Senators here.)
A similar bill already passed the House, so this may be your last chance to stop this bill!
This is not transparency in government. Senator Reid is using the distractions of the healthcare debate and Sonia Sotomayor’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings in hopes that voters won't notice.
Let's show him that he is wrong!
Senate Members Search for the Real Sonia Sotomayor by Pressing Hard Questions
The confirmation hearings move into the third day at 9:30 a.m., with more questioning of Sonia Sotomayor.
You can follow our LIVE BLOG of the entire hearing at www.LC.org, where you can also review the highlights of the past two days.
For more details about the hearings read our News Release.
Most troubling is Sotomayor's obvious attempt to distance herself from past statements and actions rather than explain them.
Today, we are continuing our interactive blog directly from the Senate building. You can follow the hearings by joining our blog atwww.LC.org. You can also make comments during the hearing.
