"When it comes to abortion funding in health care, the bus stops here!"

"When it comes to abortion funding in health care, the bus stops here!"

That was our motto as we wrapped up the SBA List'sVotes Have Consequences bus tour in front of the U.S. Capitol Building on Wednesday, where Congresswoman Musgrave spent the afternoon discussing with the media the fact that taxpayer-funding of abortion is included in the health care reform bill passed by Congress.

The goal of our bus tour was to educate voters about their Representative's vote resulting in the largest expansion of abortion since Roe, so I wanted to share with you a sampling of the local and national media the bus tour generated.  And make sure you saw the great slideshow of our tour pictures that our staff put together.

The tour was a great success thanks to your financial support and prayers. On behalf of the entire SBA List team, thank you!

As part of our appreciation, I would like to extend an invitation to our next big event taking place next week, on August 26, 2010, the 90th anniversary of the day the final state ratification was forwarded to Washington, D.C. and women were granted the right to vote with the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Next Wednesday the 26th, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at The Yale Club in New York City, the Susan B. Anthony List will engage a panel of scholars in "A Conversation on Pro-life Feminism" that will explore the concept of authentic pro-life feminism from every angle: political, historical, sociological and philosophical.

When SBA List first announced the panel discussion, Marjorie said that "Few terms provoke more animated debate than 'pro-life feminism.' Because 'abortion rights' has been defined by much of the academy and mainstream media as a core principle of contemporary feminism, many women who otherwise fully embrace the ideal of equality of opportunity reject the label 'feminist.'"

The purpose of the panel, therefore, will be to force a reconsideration of the concept of pro-abortion feminism and discuss the increasing number of pro-life women leaders rising in all areas of society. The event, which will be led by Helen Alvaré, J.D., M.A. of George Mason University's School of Law, is free, although seating is limited. If you would like to attend, please email events@sba-list.org to let us know you are coming.

If you cannot make it, a live webcast of the panel will be streamed via the SBA List website from 9:30-11:00 AM.  Click here to register for the free webcast. I hope you'll be able to watch!

John, we are continually grateful for your partnership as we fight to protect the unborn and their mothers.

For Life,
