Red Wine Packed With Antidiabetes Compounds

http://shimagyoh.spaces.live.com/ default.aspx?sa=907277434The recommendation of temperance on wine drinking to avoid obesity is welcome, but the more serious danger of alcohol should be stressed. The apparently mounting claims of the beneficial effects of red wine first involved the reduction of cardiovascular disease, now its anti type 2 diabetic properties. How much red wine does one have to drink to get these benefits. What we know for sure is that red wine contains alcohol, a potent liver poison, but thanks to the ability of the liver to absorb many insults when it has not been weakened by other diseases, people drinking more than 200 millilitres per day would realise that the dangers of alcohol far outweigh any benefits it carries in red wine. Therefore these reports should not be regarded as recommendation for everyone to take to red wine. Moreover, it easily causes habituation and addiction in people disposed to these types of behaviour. Viral hepatitis is common in developing countries, and those who have had it must strictly keep off any type of alcohol, including red wine. It would be more helpful if the beneficial compounds were extracted and made into proper medicine for those in need. Teetotallers should not change their healthy self discipline, for strictly speaking it was a mistake for humanity to adopt the habit of regular drinking of alcohol.

Of course an article suggesting the potential benefits of red wine should mention how these stack balance against the cost but the implication that those that drink lack self discipline, or haven't weighed up the costs (it is a poison) against the benefits (it is fun).
Also it was often said aboard Warships of the Royal Navy that without the rum ration the Marines had no idea how they would keep order. Alcohol may be bad for your health, but as fair as forgetting about the problems or boredom of the average life it is fairly effective, although I find climbing much more effective even it could also kill me!

http://www.isystain.comLook I'm sorry, but it's this prudish outlook on life that really gets my blood boiling. The prevalence of alcohol related violence and social issues is highest in the countries that impose strict age related limits on consumption. What came first, the puritanical laws or the bad behaviour?
Another point to make is that alcohol related violence and social problems are not and never has been due to the consumption of red wine.
Red wine is usually too expensive and generally not enjoyed by younger people. I agree there are issues in western societies related to alcohol...but this article was about red wine and statically, this is enjoyed by highly functional professional individuals that live very long and educated lives.
Stress is a well known cause of many conditions. An article in this magazine recently pointed this out. Alcohol has many stress relieving benefits and there are many studies showing that regular wine and beer drinkers live longer and enjoy life more. You say: 'teetotallers should not change their healthy self discipline'. This is completely based on your paradigm and not in touch with any real evidence. In fact the evidence suggests the exact opposite.
Given the ever stronger link being found between stress and mortality, I'll continue to have my wine and beer every day for the rest of my very long, stress free and more enjoyable life.
Just Half A Glass

I'm glad to see that half a glass of wine did so well, at least outside the body, rather than requiring 20 bottles of wine daily to get the results found in testing

Good news for us diabetics! As St. Paul said to Timothy "Do not still drink water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake, and thy frequent infirmities." (I Timothy 5:23)
