Abortion Vote Wife Bashes Husband, Considered Abortion
In the latest twist in the crazy story surrounding the BirthorNot web site a Minnesota couple posted online to have the public vote whether they should have an abortion, Alisha Arnold is now lashing out at her husband.
Upset that her husband has garnered the media attention for admitting the web site was a hoax, she placed a new post on the blog today emphasizing her pro-abortion views and saying she lost her job because of the web site.
Recently we were quoted by CNN as admitting that terminating the pregnancy was never on the table. This is simply not true, she says. My husband may wish that that was the case, but our early disagreement about this pregnancy is what led us to start the website in the first place.
Arnold claims CNN, which originally reported yesterday afternoon that Pete Arnold said the web site was a hoax, despite earlier claims it was legitimate, and the couple never considered an abortion, got the story wrong because it didn t include her perspective.
I clearly stated this to the reporter at CNN but my opinion was not included in the article that was published. Although my intentions about this pregnancy may have changed over the course of the last few months I definitely didn t start out feeling confident about proceeding with it. I was very scared and anxious that I wasn t healed emotionally from the previous miscarriages to be in the right frame of mind to continue an unexpected pregnancy, Alisha Arnold says. Mike Pence Presses for De-Funding Planned Parenthood, Abortion Biz Upset
Congressman Mike Pence is pressing for support for his bill he expected to re-introduce in the next session of Congress to de-fund Planned Parenthood and the abortion business is not happy.
In an email to conservative and pro-life activists yesterday, Pence touted the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act.
Reports show that Planned Parenthood, America s largest abortion provider, receives nearly one-third of its $1 billion annual budget from the federal government. And it s about to get worse, because Obamacare is hiding even more tax dollars in handouts for abortion providers, Pence explained.
Nearly 3,500 abortions are performed every day in America. That s 3,500 lives taken away, many on the government dime without the knowledge or direct approval of taxpayers! It s reprehensible and we can t allow it to continue, Pence added.
Pence referred to the Pledge With America that House Republicans put forward before the elections promising to dismantle ObamaCare, which contains a full prohibition on abortion funding, and to cut off taxpayer funding for abortions in other areas.
I m ready to deliver that promise with legislation that will prevent abortion providers like Planned Parenthood from receiving a single dime from the federal government, the Indiana congressman wrote. With a new Republican majority, Planned Parenthood is running scared. Full story at LifeNews.com
Pro-Life Group s Prez: Steele Should Step Down as GOP Chair
The president of a pro-life women s group is the first pro-life leader to say embattled Republican Party chairman Michael Steele should step down from his position.
Penny Nance, in an opinion column appearing today at National Journal, says Steele is not the leader the RNC needs as Republicans prepare for a considerable battle in 2012 to defeat pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
Republicans have a gigantic challenge ahead of them as they seek to fulfill many of the campaign promises they touted for months leading up to the tsunami 2010 election cycle [including to] repeal ObamaCare and promote life, she writes. While most of that responsibility falls on incoming House Speaker John Boehner, the job of recruiting the next batch of conservatives to run in 2012 and protecting the new members falls to the Republican National Committee Chairman.
Unfortunately, Michael Steele is certainly not the right choice for that job, Nance continues. Full story at LifeNews.com
CEDAW Should Promote Women, Human Rights, Not Abortion
by Bill Saunders
From its inception, the abortion industry has employed euphemisms to recast abortion as something other than the gruesome, harmful procedure that it is.
Its linguistic tricks have a purpose more nefarious than altering public perception; playing games with words, abortion forces seek to create an expansive legal right to abortion in documents that were drafted to promote human dignity.
The distortion of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) is one example where the abortion lobby s efforts have seen success.
This human rights treaty, adopted by the United Nations (U.N.) General Assembly in 1979, has a laudable goal, as its name suggests, to end discriminatory practices towards women. However, to the detriment of women, the UN committee charged with offering guidance on the obligations incumbent upon nations that have ratified CEDAW has repeatedly used the treaty to advance an abortion agenda. Conservatives, Libertarians Can Unite on Defunding Planned Parenthood
by Robert Morrison
Who says Libertarians and Social Conservatives cannot find common ground?
I had the pleasure of speaking this morning with Greg from Louisville. Greg was a caller to Bill Bennett s Morning in America program. I was being interviewed by my dear friend, guest host Seth Leibsohn.
I pointed out that the main federal family planning program Title X costs us billions. The money does not go directly to fund Planned Parenthood s killing machine. But it does indirectly fund an outfit that kills 350,000 unborn children every year. That s nearly the population of Minneapolis. Title X doesn t fund the killing, only the killers.
Greg claimed to be a militant Libertarian ( I m pro-choice on everything ). He amended that slightly to say, non-violent Libertarian. Then he went on to say that while he supported much of what Planned Parenthood does, he agrees that it should be de-funded. First, he said, because millions of Americans should not be taxed to support something they morally oppose. Second, he added, it should be de-funded because it s unconstitutional. Media Ignores Truth in Reporting on Pope and Condoms
by Collin Mason and Steve Mosher
This past weekend, in a particularly embarrassing journalistic feeding frenzy, the mainstream media fell all over itself to see who could most egregiously misquote Pope Benedict XVI.
For those who are unaware of the controversy : On Saturday the Vatican newspaper, L Osservatore Romano, published an excerpt from an upcoming book, Light of the World: The Pope, The Church and The Signs Of The Times. The book, which is slated to be released in English by Ignatius Press tomorrow, is essentially a long interview with Pope Benedict by journalist Peter Seewald. In it, Seewald engages Benedict in a discussion of the Church s take on condom use, particularly in Africa.
The editors at the usually reliable L Osservatore Romano made two critical errors.
First, they decided that they would be the only major news source in the world to violate the book s strict press embargo, releasing Italian-language excerpts from the book before the official launch date. Secondly, they inexplicably decided that they would only publish a tiny segment of Benedict s statements on condom usage, without any context whatsoever. Full story at LifeNews.com
California Agency Wants $3 Billion More for Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Not content with the $3 billion his agency already received in taxpayer funds from California residents, the head of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) wants $3 billion more.
In 2004 Robert Klein, chairman of the agency, helped pass Proposition 71, establishing the CIRM with a state taxpayer-funded $3 billion budget for ten years.
The measure was passed with promises of affordable cures for virtually all diseases, cures specifically from embryonic stem cells and cloning, as well as tremendous financial payback for the citizens of California.
But Klein now tells the Los Angeles Times he plans to seek up to $3 billion more from state taxpayers for grants and donations that will mostly go to embryonic stem cell research which has yet to help a single patient because of massive problems in animals. Full story at LifeNews.com
Iowa Lawmakers to Push Bills to Limit Late-Term Abortion Practitioner
When the newly-elected officials take their positions in January in Des Moines, pro-life advocates expect them to push for legislation that would focus on late-term abortion practitioner Leroy Carhart.
He s the Nebraska-based abortion practitioner who reacted to passage of a law banning abortions after 20 weeks based on the concept of fetal pain by announcing he would expand elsewhere.
Carhart promised to expand his late-term abortion business to Maryland and Iowa as well as to take over an abortion center in Indianapolis, Indiana, but he saw a setback on Monday night as the Council Bluffs, Iowa city council took its first step to keep him out.
The Iowa state legislature may take the second step, according to Chuck Hurley, president of the Iowa Family Policy Center Action. Full story at LifeNews.com

Ann Marie Buerkle Becomes 8th Pro-Life Woman in U.S. House
Ann Marie Buerkle s defeat of pro-abortion incumbent Dan Maffei in what is considered a major upset in the New York congressional race, has her becoming the eighth pro-life woman to serve in the House of Representatives.
Although the 2010 midterm elections, which produced excellent results for the pro-life movement, were mostly over, a close race and a recount in the district made the election go on a little longer for Buerkle and her supporters.
Today, the Susan B. Anthony List celebrated her election, which gives the pro-life group 37 wins in the races it targeted featuring pro-life or pro-abortion women.
Ann Marie Buerkle s win is historic for women, the unborn and New York s 25th Congressional District, SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser told LifeNews.com this morning. Full story at LifeNews.com
New Jersey OKs Bill to Restore Planned Parenthood Funding
The New Jersey legislature on Monday approved a bill that would restore state taxpayer funding for family planning programs, which sends money to the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
The state Assembly approved a pair of bills to restore the funding pro-life Gov. Chris Christie revoked for financial reasons. However, the passage of the bills came seven votes shy of what is needed to override another expected gubernatorial veto. The state Senate is expected to consider legislation to restore the controversial funding early next month. Full story at LifeNews.com.
South Australia MLC Defeated, Pulls Bill to Legalize Euthanasia
The member of the South Australia state legislature who proposed a bill to legalize euthanasia has pulled the measure because he expected it to go down in defeat.
Mark Parnell, the Greens MLC who introduced the bill to legalize euthanasia in South Australia, pulled the measure after he counted votes and noted it would have been defeated 12-9.
Paul Russell, the director of HOPE: Preventing Euthanasia & Assisted Suicide, a local anti-euthanasia group in Australia, emailed LifeNews.com about the news. I m so glad to be able to report to you a win for commonsense in the Upper House of the South Australian Parliament tonight, he said. The final outcome was a defeat for the Parnell Bill on the voices in other words, votes were not recorded. However, from the speeches alone it was clear that the vote was 12 to 9 in our favor. Washington Group Seeks Supreme Court Justice on Assisted Suicide Fight
The Washington state pro-life group Human Life of Washington feels the state s campaign finance laws prevented it from waging the kind of battle it hoped to fight against a state ballot measure legalizing assisted suicide.
HLW had wanted to mount a more aggressive campaign against what eventually became the law making Washington the second state to legalize the practice.
Now, it has asked the Supreme Court to hear its case that seeks to allow citizens to advocate political issues without being treated as a political action committee (PAC) by the state. Full story at LifeNews.com.
