Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends for Life,

Some companies have been called on the carpet for internet porn. Google has a disgusting amount of porn. Making porn available to all ages and the likelihood of many to become addicted to it mandates greater oversight. The vast majority of child molesters admit to viewing porn. Children have easy access to google. Many get addicted to porn and cyber sex like drugs. Why is it necessary for Google to be in the porn business, they don't need the money and its irresponsible. Let your voice be heard. Write to them.

God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(A Thought) "Laughter and love are everywhere. The cathedrals, built in the ages that loved God, are full of blasphemous grotesques. The mother laughs continually at the child, the lover laughs continually at the lover, the wife at the husband, the friend at the friend." - G.K. Chesterton

(Focus on Asia): "End Gendercide in China" - This video makes it simple to share with your family and friends about gendercide. We hope to see it become 'viral' and reach thousands before Valentine's Day. There's lots of ways to share the video: on Facebook, Twitter, your own blog, email or even mobile devices. In honor of the 37 million single men in China who will not have a date this Valentine's Day -- let's forward this video and expose the problem before it gets any worse! Feel free to send Tessa an email with any questions or comments.

ITEM #1: Illegal trade in babies

Authorities are struggling to control the underground sperm donation to women desperate to become mothers. The internet-based baby-making business has boomed since laws introduced in 2005 banned sperm donors from remaining anonymous.

ITEM #2: IVF More Deadly Than Abortion For Women, Says BMJ

Dr Bewley and her colleagues point out that in the developing world, women die as a result of complications from excess fertility and unsafe abortion, but that in post-industrial societies, infertility treatment now poses a higher risk of maternal death.

****************************************

ITEM #3: Report Supports Embryo Genetic Tests In Germany

National academy recommends legalizing tests where there is risk of serious incurable disease.

****************************************

ITEM #4: Vatican to draft guidelines for Catholic hospitals

Comment: This should be a good development. However, it will take followup with truly ethical Catholic education. -Nancy Valko, RN

****************************************

ITEM #5: After 'forcible rape,' another abortion restriction

Comment: Another attempt to undermine conscience rights. "Life of the mother" is often used as a false scare tactic by abortion rights supporters. For example, treatments for a true medical condition such as the removal of a fallopian tube for an ectopic pregnancy that is causing a medical emergency is not an abortion but rather a medical treatment where the death of the unborn baby is unintended and unavoidable. And I will never forget an article by a female abortionist who states that she considers every abortion a "life of the mother" situation because she felt that childbirth was always riskier than abortion. -Nancy Valko, RN

****************************************

ITEM #6: The taste for death

Comment: According to even biased polls, the majority of us doctors and nurses refuse to kill our patients. If legalized, euthanasia will eventually force us to participate or refer suicidal patients (or their relatives) to other doctors and nurses who will. We are already seeing conscience rights increasingly being dismantled or undermined as a so-called threat to "patient rights." Then, who will you trust when you want to live but are poor, elderly, disabled or face a life-threatening illness? We must not discriminate when it comes to prevention and treatment for the suicidal. Our humanity itself is at stake. -Nancy Valko, RN

ITEM #7 Comic-book heroes make daring donations to Japanese youth charities

In over 100 separate donations, beginning on Christmas Day itself, people assuming the names of characters from this manga and others have donated valuable school backpacks; school supplies such as pencils and notebooks; money; and sometimes even vegetables and rice.

****************************************

ITEM #8: The Question of Discrimination in Same-Sex Marriage

In short, the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman has, in the past, been generally held by the courts (with rare exceptions) as non-discriminatory towards homosexuals. However....

ITEM #9: Japan: Keio Univ. approves plan to create sperm, ova using iPS cells

A Keio University bioethical panel has given the green light to a university research team to create human reproductive cells using induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, it has been learned. Research to create sperm and ova will be the first of its kind in this country since the Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Ministry approved stem cell research in May.

ITEM #10: 'Puzzling' that UK still pushing morning-after pill despite rise in STDs says study author

It is "puzzling" that government policy makers are still pushing the morning-after pill (MAP) on young people, when it has done absolutely nothing to reduce teen pregnancies, Professor David Paton told LifeSiteNews.com today. In fact, he said, the MAP project seems to be making the situation worse by increasing teen rates of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

ITEM #11: France's first genetically-engineered baby born

The embryo was screened for the disease using pre-implantation genetic diagnosis before being implanted in the womb using in vitro fertilization.

ITEM #12: Planned Parenthood deceptions

Over the past week, Live Action has released six videos revealing Planned Parenthood's willingness to aid and abet the sex traffickers of underage girls. The growing body of evidence reveals that Planned Parenthood unequivocally covers up the sex abuse of young victims and is willing to work with the abusers. Our undercover actors could not have said who they were and what they represented more clearly. Planned Parenthood repeatedly looked the other way. It is a federal crime to aid and abet in the trafficking of underage persons. What is a better way to aid and abet a pimp of young girls, then give him all the secret abortions, birth control and the services that a pimp would need to keep his sex slaves on the street?
