New Video Features Planned Parenthood Director Who Quit
The coordinators of the 40 Days for Life campaign have released a new video featuring Ramona Trevino, who resigned her post at Planned Parenthood as a manager of an abortion-referral center earlier this year.

Her decision made her the second Texas-based Planned Parenthood staffer to call it quits, following Abby Johnson, and it comes before two other abortion facility staffers quit something Johnson announced yesterday.

Shawn Carney, the Campaign Director for 40 Days for Life, talked about Ramona in an email announcing the new video.

Last week I shared the great news about a Planned Parenthood facility in Sherman, Texas, closing after the first local 40 Days for Life was held outside its doors, he said. The closure was a direct result of the conversion and resignation of the manager of the facility (for which she credits 40 Days for Life) and the 40 Days for Life prayer presence outside that drastically reduced the organization s customer traffic.

The abortion organization even admitted to media outlets that the closure was due to lack of business. (It also helped when the Texas legislature voted to strip Planned Parenthood of $34+ MILLION in taxpayer funding so it couldn t rebound from the lack of business.), Carney continued. On Sunday, 40 Days for Life national director David Bereit was in Sherman for the celebration rally outside the closed Planned Parenthood office in 111-degree heat and was joined by the center s former manager, Ramona Trevino, who spoke to the 40 Days for Life participants.

Her talk was amazing and media outlets from the Houston Chronicle to the Dallas Observer have since been buzzing with the news, he said.

Carney said the abortion giant has already tried to intimidate Trevino, as it attempted to do Johnson. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/02/new-video-features-planned-parenthood-director-who-quit/

Abby Johnson Recalls: Planned Parenthood Alarm Was 2229 (BABY)
It took a few weeks before I got the alarm code to our clinic. I guess it takes that long for them to trust you. I remember getting the code and feeling shocked. The code was 2229. That seems innocent until they told me what it spelled out BABY. Really. Wow. We were really joking about that our alarm code was mocking the murder of children.

A few weeks later I was introduced to our freezer in the POC (products of conception) lab. This was the freezer that held the fetal tissue until the biohazard truck came for disposal. I found out the name for that freezer the nursery. Again, that was a joke. How had that become a joke?

A few days later I learned the password to our phone system 2229 BABY.

A couple years later I remember walking in on my supervisor making jokes with the abortionist and another employee in that same POC lab. They were joking about how the fetal tissue floating in this dish looked like bar-b-que. Did I hear that right? Did they really just say that? Then one of them said, I actually think this part looks like strawberry jam. I turned around and walked out without saying a word. I felt sick to my stomach. How did that conversation begin? How could they say that? Was it enough to make me leave? No. I was one of them now. I am drenched in the evil of this place.

Several years later I found out that my affiliate was going to build the largest abortion clinic in the Western Hemisphere. I remember my boss making the announcement. We are building the largest abortuary in the country! We all busted out laughing as we applauded. We loved hearing all of the words pro-lifers called our clinics. We were all so proud. We were doing something that would go down in the history books. Good for us, we thought. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/02/abby-johnson-recalls-planned-parenthood-alarm-was-2229-baby/

Women Should be Told of Abortion-Mental Health Link Risks
An organization for women who regret their abortions and leaders of pro-life groups are hailing a new study confirming that abortion causes a number of mental heath risks for women.

A new study published in the British Journal of Psychiatry by leading American researcher Dr. Priscilla Coleman of Bowling Green State University finds women who have an abortion face almost double the risk of mental health problems as women who have their baby. Coleman s study is based on an analysis of 22 separate studies which, in total, examine the pregnancy experiences of 877,000 women, with 163,831 women having an abortion. The study also indicated abortion accounts for one in ten of every adverse mental health issue women face as a whole.

Leaders of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, the world s largest network of women and men harmed by abortion, say that the report validates what many post-abortive women already know.

This is not just another study. It s historic, Silent No More co-founder Georgette Forney told LifeNews. It combines the results of 22 studies conducted over a 14-year period in six countries involving 877,181 women. And it confirms what Silent No More members have been saying all along abortion harms women.

Janet Morana, another co-founder of the group, told LifeNews, This report is devastating to those who try to deny the hurt and anguish women suffer from abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/02/women-should-be-told-of-abortion-mental-health-link-risks/

Catholic Bishops: Revoke Obamacare-Abortion Drug Mandate
Taking advantage of the public comment period offer before the recommendation goes into effect, the nation s Catholic bishops are urging the Obama administration to reverse a decision that forces insurance companies to pay for birth control and drugs that can cause abortions under the Obamacare government-run health care program.

In August, Obama officials tentatively approved a recommendation from the Institute of Medicine, opposed by pro-life groups, that called for the Obama administration to require insurance programs to include birth control such as the morning after pill or the ella drug that causes an abortion days after conception in the section of drugs and services insurance plans must cover under preventative care. The companies will likely pass the added costs on to consumers, requiring them to pay for birth control and, in some instances, drug-induced abortions of unborn children in their earliest days.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that it accepted the IOM guidelines that require new health insurance plans to cover women s preventive services and those services include FDA-approved contraception methods and contraceptive counseling which include birth control drugs like Plan B and ella that can cause abortions. The Health and Human Services Department commissioned the report from the Institute, which advises the federal government and shut out pro-life groups in meetings leading up to the recommendations. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/02/catholic-bishops-revoke-obamacare-abortion-drug-mandate/

Planned Parenthood Backs Obama Admin Targeting Pro-Lifers
The Obama administration s targeting of peaceful, law-abiding pro-life advocates for prosecution for supposedly violating a national law by helping women find abortion alternatives is meeting with support from the biggest abortion business.

As LifeNews has reported, the Obama administration is continuing to go after pro-life people who provide abortion alternatives information to women outside abortion facilities. They are going after one elderly man for stepping on a woman s shoe and breaking the strap.

Maryland resident Richard Retta has been accused of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act by doing nothing more than exercising his First Amendment rights when he presents information to and talks to women considering abortions. For more than 10 years, he has helped women heading to the Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington abortion center find the kind of alternatives the abortion business never provides.

But the Justice Department s Civil Rights Division sees the gentle man as some sort of terrorist and it has filed a lawsuit claiming Retta is one of the most vocal and aggressive anti-abortion protesters. How so? The Obama administration claims, On one occasion, defendant walked so closely to a patient that he stepped on the patient s shoe and broke the shoe strap.

In a new interview with NPR, Ellen Gertzog, director of security for Planned Parenthood calls this a good thing. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/02/planned-parenthood-backs-obama-admin-targeting-pro-lifers/

Media Ignores What Planned Parenthood Does With Govt Funds
Last week the Associated Press breathlessly announced that federal grant money given to the Iowa Family Policy Center (IFPC) may have helped support gasp political activity to protect the definition of marriage in Iowa state law.

While unable to find any smoking gun or direct evidence that what the Iowa Family Policy Center did with its award money was illegal, the AP author Ryan Foley goes on to detail how the money was used to do things like pay for employee salaries, rent, telephone and internet expenses.

Why is this a double standard? Because I can t remember the Associated Press or the mainstream media ever seriously inquiring into how Planned Parenthood uses its federal money. The IFPC was given a $2.2 million grant from 2006-2010, the AP reports. But official sources cited by Americans United for Life show that Planned Parenthood receives tens of millions of federal dollars a year. How much money exactly? No one seems to know not even the U.S. Government Accountability Office!

Double standard? You bet. The mainstream media doesn t even seem to care that no one besides Planned Parenthood knows exactly how much money Planned Parenthood is getting from the federal government every year. All we know is that they got $363 million in 2009 from all government sources which includes state, federal, and local. I think this calls for an official audit, and one way to get there is for the mainstream media to demand transparency and accountability from the nation s largest abortion provider. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/02/media-ignores-what-planned-parenthood-does-with-govt-funds/

Women Voters and Obama 2012: We re Just Not That Into You
He pulled up in 2008, won over the parents and even got along with the kid brother. Wit, charm, hope, and change- what a guy! Dazzled by his touching, though rather vague campaign rhetoric, the majority of American women, decided to give this handsome Chicago beau a whirl, whisking him into the Oval Office with 56 percent of the female vote.

But after nearly four years of going steady, with an overwhelming 70 percent approval rate among women during his early days in office, the relationship between President Obama and the female voter has hit a rough patch.

Last week s Gallup poll showed that only 41 percent of American women still approve of the Commander and Chief, while over the past three months, the President s approval ratings have dropped a full 11 points among the gentler sex. Clearly things have cooled.

This drop in support is cause for serious concern within Obama s reelection campaign team. And so the courtship of female voters begins again. In an effort to reenergize the female base, the stylish First Lady will join hardened veteran of the feminist movement, Gloria Steinem, at a fundraising event in New York next week. Among the many Democratic women in attendance, two of the featured guests include EMILY s List President Stephanie Schriock and Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/02/women-voters-and-obama-2012-were-just-not-that-into-you/
