The Catholic Herald apologies to readers for misjudged Terrence Higgins Trust advertisment

Since my blog on Saturday about The Catholic Herald's inclusion of an advertisement by the Terrence Higgins Trust (THT), Andy Leisinger, the newspaper's managing director, has sent the following response to concerned readers:
"The Catholic Herald carried a loose leaf insert for the Terrence Higgins Trust in its November 11th issue. We were informed that pregnant mothers diagnosed with HIV were encouraged to proceed with child birth and would be offered substantial post-natal care.

We feel we have misjudged our approach in accepting advertising from this organisation and we apologise unreservedly to our readers for any offence caused.

Yours sincerely,

Andy Leisinger
Managing Director
Catholic Herald Ltd (The Catholic Herald and Scottish Catholic Observer)"

I wish to thank Mr Leisinger for this positive response. As Mr Leisinger infers, the THT advertisement did indeed imply to Catholic Herald readers that THT is pro-life: the advertisement contained the story of a HIV+ mother who feared she would be pressured to have an abortion. This cynically misleading ploy by the pro-abortion THT shows just how vigilant we must all be against the machinations of the culture of death.
