Will Obama Force Coverage of Birth Control, Abortion Drugs?
The Obama administration is considering implementing a new rule regarding Obamacare and whether insurance companies will be forced to include birth control and drugs that can possibly cause abortions under preventative care.
The contraception mandate rule has drawn strong opposition from pro-life groups in part because the religious exemption it contains is very narrow and could force certain Catholic and other religious groups to pay for insurance coverage for employees. They say that violates its conscience rights and religious views because of the birth control coverage and coverage for drugs like the morning after pill and ella that can cause abortions.
Members of the Obama administration held various meetings with activists on both sides of the issue late last week. Senate Democrats voiced their objections to expanding the religious exemption in a conference call with Pete Rouse, counselor to the president, on Thursday. House Democrats made their objections known in a similar meeting with Valerie Jarrett, another top Obama advisor on domestic issues.
Representative Diana DeGette, a Colorado Democrat who is the head of pro-abortion forces in the House, told the New York Times, Millions of women work for colleges, hospitals and health care systems that are nominally religious, but these folks use birth control and need coverage. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/21/will-obama-force-coverage-of-birth-control-abortion-drugs/
Abortion Clinics Permanently Closed by Michigan Atty General
The attorney general for the state of Michigan has permanently closed down two abortion centers in the state, saying they had been operating without a valid license since last summer.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette had filed a lawsuit in Eaton County Circuit Court to permanently close two abortion centers, the Health Care Clinic in Delta Township and the Women s Choice Clinic in Saginaw. The lawsuit follows one Schuette and the Michigan Department of Community Health filed earlier this year against the Lathrup Village-based WomanCare of Southfield abortion center.
The lawsuit sought to permanently dissolve the abortion facilities and to enjoin the abortion clinic s owner, Richard Remund, from ever organizing any other company for a similar purpose.
The action comes as the result of an Attorney General investigation into allegations of improper medical records disposal at the clinics. In addition to the lawsuit filed today, Schuette referred evidence uncovered by investigators suggesting possible regulatory violations to the Bureau of Health Systems and the Bureau of Health Professionals, agencies within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/21/abortion-clinics-permanently-closed-by-michigan-atty-general/

Pelosi Bashes Catholics: They Have This Conscience Thing
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is at it again, bashing Catholics for their pro-life position when she has promoted abortion in defiance of Catholic Church teaching at every turn.
This time, Pelosi is upset that the nation s Catholic bishops are protesting a potential Obama administration decision forcing insurance companies to cover birth control, contraception and drugs that could cause abortions. They say certain religious groups may not be exempt from providing the insurance, which would violate their moral and religious views.
Pelosi says the position is akin to having hospitals say to a woman, I m sorry you could die if you don t get an abortion, she told the Washington Post.
Those who dispute that characterization may not like the language, she said, but the truth is what I said. I m a devout Catholic and I honor my faith and love it . . . but they have this conscience thing that the Post said Pelosi insists put women at physical risk, although Catholic providers strongly disagree.
Pelosi also defended controversial remarks she made about a bill to prevent Obamacare from funding abortions, where she claimed Republicans want women to die on the floor. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/21/pelosi-bashes-catholics-they-have-this-conscience-thing/
Hospital Forcing Nurses to Assist Abortions Now Targets Jobs
A New Jersey hospital continues to threaten a dozen nurses with employment discrimination even after a court issued an order forcing the hospital to back down from putting pressure on the nurses to be involved in abortions.
The nurses filed a lawsuit against their employer, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, which told them they had to either assist in abortions or risk losing their jobs. A court has stopped a New Jersey hospital from forcing any of 12 nurses that sued it to participate in training or services related to abortions.
The nurses spoke out last week about their plight, but their attorneys, the pro-life legal firm Alliance Defense Fund, say the hospital is placing renewed pressure on them.
Alliance Defense Fund attorneys filed a motion for an emergency court order Friday against the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In violation of an existing court order, UMDNJ is attempting to force the nurses into meetings that would impose discriminatory job transfer and other changes to their employment solely because of their objections to helping with abortions, the legal group tells LifeNews. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/21/hospital-forcing-nurses-to-assist-abortions-now-targets-jobs/
Gingrich, Romney Tie for Lead in GOP 2012 Presidential Race
Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney are now essentially tied for the lead in the 2012 Republican presidential race, according to a new national poll Gallup released today looking at the candidates seeking to replace pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
Among all Republicans nationwide, Romney is the choice of 20% and Gingrich 19%. Among Republican registered voters, Gingrich is at 22% and Romney at 21%, the new poll found.
Among the other candidates, all of whom are campaigning as pro-life advocates opposed to abortion and taxpayer financing of abortions, the poll of all Republicans finds Herman Cain at 16 percent, Ron Paul at 10 percent, Rick Perry at 8 percent, Michelle Bachmann at 5 percent, and Jon Huntsman and Rick Santorum tied at 1 percent apiece. The survey of registered Republicans has Cain also in third at 16 percent, Paul with 9 percent, Perry with 8 percent, Bachmann at 4 percent and Santorum and Huntsman getting one percent. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/21/gingrich-romney-tie-for-lead-in-gop-2012-presidential-race/
Abby Johnson: New Ministry Helps Abortion Clinic Workers Quit
I have known since I left Planned Parenthood that I was supposed to reach out to clinic workers, I just didn t know how. Now I do. I am starting a ministry for them. It is called, And Then There Were None. This ministry will focus on providing a safe place for clinic workers to land if they decide to leave their jobs. It will be a place to safely share, to heal and to find courage. And we are not simply waiting for them to come to us we are pro-actively reaching out to them. These workers did not grow up wanting this for their lives. We can help change that.
Right now, I am in the early stages. We are working on our website. We are building our strategic plan. We are looking for donors. It is not always easy to convince people to give to a ministry where you may never meet the people you help. You may never know their names. You may never see them face to face. But your support is saving them saving them from a road of darkness, of pure evil. Your support is bringing them into hope. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/21/abby-johnson-new-ministry-helps-abortion-clinic-workers-quit/
New Down Syndrome Test Will Likely Lead to More Abortions
An article was released by the New York Post last week revealing the discovery of a new, simple way to detect Down syndrome in a fetus. The test surpasses currently used methods of testing in safety and convenience, making it more likely that pregnant women will commonly be able to know before birth whether the child will have Down syndrome.
The article goes on to report that 92% of women who get a definitive diagnosis of Down choose to abort, surveys show.
In effect, the new test will enable more pregnant women to find whether her child will have Down syndrome and statistics show that nearly all of these women will decide to abort the child. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/21/new-down-syndrome-test-will-likely-lead-to-more-abortions/
