GERMANTOWN, Md., Nov. 29, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- To mourn the estimated 720 fetuses abortionist LeRoy Carhart has destroyed in Germantown since expanding his Nebraska-based business into Montgomery County 12 months ago, pro-life activists across the region will carry 720 white crosses -- one for each abortion performed -- from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, near Carhart's office at Wisteria Drive and Executive Park Terrace.
"We know many of these babies would have been viable outside the womb," says Dr. Grace Morrison, instrumental in galvanizing abortion protesters to pray each Monday morning for the past year on the public sidewalk along Wisteria Drive. "It breaks our hearts to see these beautiful women, fully pregnant, enter his doors where he is determined to destroy life -- babies he publicly calls 'parasites.'"
Morrison will be among those holding a 9:30 press conference during the Dec. 5 demonstration.
The Maryland Coalition for Life and other regional pro-life organizers hope to draw attention to the increased number of Maryland abortions since Carhart opened his doors Dec. 6, 2010, traveling here weekly following Nebraska's passage of a law that prohibits elective abortions after 20 weeks post-conception. Carhart is the country's most notorious provider of late-term abortions -- abortions performed during the second half of pregnancy.
"We want to make a visible yet peaceful statement that no unborn baby should end up as medical waste or in the garbage disposal," Morrison says. "Our prayer is that state officials will eliminate late-term abortion in 2012 and that Dr. Carhart will use his skills to save babies instead of dismembering them and disposing them as trash."
