Planned Parenthood Accused of Massive Medicaid Fraud in Texas
The Planned Parenthood abortion business in yet another state is facing accusations of massive Medicaid fraud related to billing for abortions and birth control at a time when Congress is launching an investigation.

According to pro-life blogger Jill Stanek, a former employee of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast has filed a whistleblower s complaint with the Attorney General of Texas and the U.S. Department of Justice. The PPGC employee alleges that the abortion business engaged in an elaborate Medicaid fraud scheme.

Stanek writes:

Karen Reynolds, who worked as a health care assistant from 1999 to 2009 at the Lufkin, Texas, branch of the affiliate formerly known as Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas, has submitted company memos and emails to support her charge that PPGC has engaged in a systemwide scheme to bilk Medicaid, Title XX, and the Women s Health Program of tens of millions of dollars over the course of at least a decade.

Reynolds alleges bosses trained employees to bill government agencies for medical and family planning services not rendered, for services no reasonable medical personnel would provide, and the biggest bombshell for abortion-related services fudged to appear as if they were not. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/03/planned-parenthood-accused-of-massive-medicaid-fraud-in-texas/

Court Stops Hospital From Forcing Nurses to Assist Abortions
A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order Thursday prohibiting a New Jersey hospital from forcing any of 12 nurses that sued the facility to participate in training or services related to abortions.

As LifeNews reported, the nurses filed a lawsuit against their employer, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, which told them they had to either assist in abortions or risk losing their jobs. The Alliance Defense Fund filed a lawsuit on behalf of 12 nurses who work for the facility, which receives federal health funds and which told them they needed to assist abortions or be terminated from their employment.

The order, which the hospital agreed to, is in effect until the court decides whether to issue any additional order at a November 18 hearing.

ADF Legal Counsel Matt Bowman told LifeNews that federal and state laws both protect the nurses from being required to participate in medical activities related to abortions. Prior to the court order, two of the nurses had been scheduled to participate this Friday in training that would include surgical abortions.

Pro-life nurses shouldn t be forced to assist or train in services related to abortions. Federal and state law both prohibit this, he said. These 12 nurses have encountered threats to their jobs at this hospital ever since a policy change required them to participate in the abortion cases regardless of their religious and moral objections. The court s order prevents that until the Nov. 18 hearing, but it is disturbing that the hospital may fight to continue violating laws that clearly protect conscience rights. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/03/court-stops-hospital-from-forcing-nurses-to-assist-abortions/

Romney: Eliminate Taxpayer Funding for Planned Parenthood
Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has a new opinion column in USA Today in which he advocates numerous ways to balance the federal budget, one of which involves eliminate funding to Planned Parenthood.

Romney proposes repealing Obamacare which pro-life groups virtually unanimously opposed because of concerns related to taxpayer funding of abortions, rationing issues, and lack of conscience protections for pro-life medical workers. He says that will save $95 billion in 2016.

The fourth item on Romney s list is one that will delight the pro-life voters he needs to secure the GOP nomination to face Obama: Eliminate Title X family planning programs benefiting abortion groups like Planned Parenthood.

Romney previously pledged to de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business in October during his speech before the Values Voter Summit. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/03/romney-eliminate-taxpayer-funding-for-planned-parenthood/

Fourth Defendant to Plead Guilty in Gosnell Abortion Case
A fourth defendant is expected to plead guilty today in the gruesome case involving the botched abortion deaths and the abortion-infanticides of dozens of unborn children that took place at the abortion facility run by Kermit Gosnell.

Gosnell, his wife, and staff members face various charges including eight charges for killing a patient in a botched abortion and killing unborn children in the brutal infanticides that saw him stick medical scissors into the backs of unborn children purposefully induced prematurely so he could snip their spinal cords and take their lives. They also face charges ranging from murder to obstructing justice to practicing medicine without a license.

The grand jury released a 261-page report which said the 69-year-old abortion practitioner and his staff killed hundreds of babies in this manner and killed at least two women and injured many more in failed abortions. Gosnell became known in Philadelphia and the Atlantic region as the guy women should go to if they wanted a late-term abortion illegal in most states.

Today, staffer Steven Massof, who was charged with conspiracy and other charges and was an unlicensed medical school graduate performing medical work at Gosnell s abortion business, will plead guilty to two counts of third-degree murder and other charges. An AP report indicates the murder counts could bring him a mandatory life term, but the judge in the case could suspend or reduce the sentence if he cooperates with authorities prosecuting Gosnell and other staffers. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/03/fourth-defendant-to-plead-guilty-in-gosnell-abortion-case/

Another Study Shows Abortion-Mental Health Issues Link
I m grateful to AAPLOG [the American Association of Pro Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists ] for drawing my attention to yet another study showing a strong link between abortion and mental illness.

The paper, titled Associations Between Abortion, Mental Disorders, and Suicidal Behaviour in a Nationally Representative Sample was published in theCanadian Journal of Psychiatry in April 2010 and confirmed a strong association between abortion and mental disorders .

As such it adds further support to the landmark meta-analysis by Priscilla Coleman which I highlighted on this blog in August which showed that abortion raises the risk of mental health problems by an average of 81%.

The Canadian researchers used the National Co-morbidity Survey (NCS) replication data collected between 2001 and 2003. Key points (courtesy of AAPLOG) are: http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/03/another-study-shows-abortion-mental-health-issues-link/

Clinic: We Do Abortions With No Disturbing Suction Noise
Early Options TM located in New York City says they are not a clinic, and the aspiration method they sell for early abortion is not invasive and is not a surgery. They also assure the women that they really want to help them, and that at five weeks the heartbeat is not really a heartbeat. Imagine if you are a young woman who is pregnant and scared? Does this sell? How is such dishonesty even legal? Never mind, it s abortion.

Lie #1: It s natural!
Early Options TM located in New York City offers a natural abortion for women who are pregnant and want to terminate it. They recommend their trademark aspiration abortion procedure as the most natural abortion method. What is this novel and amazing method? It s a syringe device. What makes it different? Nothing. The same cannula is inserted through the cervix and the embryo is suctioned out of the uterus. It s just as invasive as any other aspiration method. This one just doesn t use electric suction, it uses manual suction and the embryo is deposited in the tube instead of being sucked into the machine vat. Disposal is a matter of disposing of the syringe. It s natural because when the suction is applied, the embryo naturally detaches from the uterine wall. Naturally. And there s no disturbing suction noise. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/03/clinic-we-do-abortions-with-no-disturbing-suction-noise/

Democrats Hire Pro-Abortion Activist for Religious Outreach
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has hired a prominent pro-abortion activist to lead the religious outreach program as it prepares to support the re-election campaign of pro-abortion President Barack Obama.

The Demcoratic Party has hried Rev. Dr. Derrick Harkins, the senior pastor of the prestigious Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, one of the largest historic black congregations in Washington, DC. In addition to serving on the board of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), Harkins serves on an advisory board for the pro-abortion Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.

He also serves on the board of the liberal advocacy group Faith and Public Life, funded by leftist philanthropies like George Soros and the Tides Foundation, both of which support abortion.

In 2009, Harkins argued that Obamacare is morally imperative even though pro-life groups virtually unanimously opposed it (except for one, Democrats for Life of America) because of concerns related to taxpayer funding of abortions, rationing issues, and lack of conscience protections for pro-life medical workers. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/03/democrats-hire-pro-abortion-activist-for-religious-outreach/
