Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.

Norma McCorvey will pray for late-term abortionist George Tiller to stop killing babies

Wichita, KS - July 11, 2007 - Norma McCorvey, the former "Jane Roe" of the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that decriminalized abortion, will attend the Wichita Awakening this weekend.

Ms. McCorvey is a former abortion clinic administrator who came to Christ and renounced her involvement in the abortion industry. She has since written a book entitled "Won By Love" and works through her group, Crossing Over Ministry, to end abortion in America.

Ms. McCorvey will join a virtual "Who's Who" line-up of national pro-life leaders in praying for late-term abortionist George R. Tiller, who was charged on June 28 with 19 criminal counts of illegal late-term abortions because of his business relationship with Ann Kristin Neuhaus, who signed off on his late-term abortions in violation of Kansas law.

Other leaders who will attend the prayer event include Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women of America, Rev. Rob Schenk of the National Clergy Council, Rev. Pat Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition, and others. (Click here for full listing .)

The Wichita Awakening is a prophetic call to end abortion and seek revival, which is sponsored by the group The Cause , which turned out and estimated 100,000 young people last Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee. Approximately 250 members of the group are making a trek across America that will stop in Wichita, Kansas, this weekend and end in San Francisco, California, in August.

The Wichita Awakening will kick off with a Candlelight Prayer Vigil outside George Tiller's late-term abortion mill, Women's Health Care Services, on Saturday, July 14 at 8:30 PM. Prayer vigils and worship services will continue through Monday July 16.

An example of the traditional magisterial teaching which indicates that it is never morally licit to intentionally kill a child through abortion in order to “save the life of its mother” comes from the teaching of Pope Pius XII:

“Every human being, even the infant in the mother's womb, has the right to life immediately from God, not from the parent or any human society or authority. Therefore, there is no man, no human authority, no science, no medical, eugenic, social, economic or moral ‘indication’ that can show or give valid juridical title for direct deliberate disposition concerning an innocent human life-which is to say, a disposition that aims at its destruction either as an end in itself or as the means of attaining another end that is perhaps in no way illicit itself. Thus, for example, to save the life of the mother is a most noble end, but the direct killing of the child as a means to this end is not licit.”
