AMARILLO, Texas, April 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today said that Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius should sign a bill passed by the state senate yesterday dealing with abortion. The measure would require that a woman be offered an opportunity to view an ultrasound image of her child prior to an abortion and strengthens reporting requirements for late term abortions.
"Unless one believes that increasing the number of abortions is more important than the concept of informed consent, there's no plausible reason to oppose giving a woman the chance to see an image of her baby prior to an abortion," said Fr. Pavone. "It's amazing how some public officials who claim to favor 'choice' so strongly oppose efforts to inform to the abortion client exactly what the choice entails."
Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.
