FRAUD OR BUSINESS AS USUAL?

By Judie Brown

fraud: intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right

It is not often that I get so excited about an American Life League Action Alert that I have to write a commentary on it, but today is just such a day. You see, the headline itself sets the stage:  "Statutory Rape-Hiding Planned Parenthood to Receive Thousands: Help Stop Misuse of Tax Dollars."

The focus of our alert is Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio. A few days ago, the Ohio Supreme Court heard arguments for and against this Planned Parenthood affiliate turning over the medical records of a client to her parents and to authorities. She had an abortion without parental knowledge when she was 14, and Planned Parenthood is justifying it, because they claim the boy pretended to be the girl's father when they called the phone number the girl provided.

The news report states,

Lawyers for the girl's parents are arguing that the records from the Cincinnati clinic operated by Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region are necessary to prove that the clinic had a pattern of violating Ohio's parental consent law and failed to report suspected abuse or inform the girl of risks or alternatives to abortion. An appeals court last year ruled that records on other patients were not necessary for the family's lawsuit.

The "records on other patients" are necessary if the parents of this particular young woman are to prove that Planned Parenthood has a history of protecting statutory rapists while arguing that each of their patients, including young teenagers, have patient confidentiality . . . even when the law is broken and a statutory rape has occurred.

The outcome, if the court were to rule in favor of the parents' request, would be to expose the fraudulent manner in which Planned Parenthood markets death for preborn children, thus robbing them of their right to life and robbing their parents of their right to know that abortion murders a child.
Only time will tell if the court sees it this way and adjudicates in favor of justice rather than favoring the same old hedonistic standards that have been Planned Parenthood's stock-in-trade for decades.

However, it is this very same Planned Parenthood affiliate that is promoting a web site called "The A Word Campaign. The "A word," in this case, is abstinence, not abortion. The web site is, to put it mildly, disingenuous. For example, under the disadvantages of abstinence, we find the following:

  • If you're counting on abstinence, and change your mind in the heat of the moment, it's important to have a back-up plan for preventing pregnancy and STIs.
  • Many people find it difficult to abstain from sexual intercourse for long periods of time.
  • Some people practicing abstinence may not have adequate skills in communicating their commitment to abstinence to partners.

This sick web site represents a perspective on abstinence that is designed to rob a young person of the most valuable possession he or she has: virginity! That is fraud! If you are trying to teach abstinence from a twisted perspective such as this, then you might as well call it what it is: sex instruction.

But that's not all. The same Planned Parenthood affiliate is seeking thousands of tax dollars from Hamilton County's coffers for "family planning direct health care services." It is also setting up a new office just a block away from a public high school whose students are predominantly African-American, and within a few miles from three Catholic high schools. Oh yes, of course, because as we all know, it is those people – people of color -- who really need Planned Parenthood the most! That's why Margaret Sanger started the Negro Project in 1939. Her philosophy was really a simple one: Help the minorities by eliminating them.

As African-American Pastor Johnny Hunter said some years ago, "We have become victims of genocide by our own hands."

The most serious problem with the four scenarios presented above is that such examples are not unique for any Planned Parenthood affiliate. They are yet another illustration of the fraudulent claims Planned Parenthood will make in order to line their wallets with our tax dollars and increase their profits over the bodies of aborted children, not to mention the souls of young children.
Planned Parenthood is also accused of direct deception and other blatantly illegal activity: It has been alleged that Planned Parenthood has literally ripped off California taxpayers for more than five million dollars
.
As we announced in a press release earlier this month,

In May of this year, American Life League obtained, through a Freedom of Information request, copies of the California Department of Health Services 2004 audit of Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties. This audit shows that one Planned Parenthood affiliate overcharged the state of California $5.2 million in a single year.

Even the Los Angeles Times picked up on this tidbit and actually stated in their initial report,

Planned Parenthood affiliates in California may have overcharged the state and federal governments more than $180 million for birth-control pills, despite internal and external warnings that its billing practices were improper, according to a federal lawsuit filed by one of the agency's former finance officials in Los Angeles.

So, what to do about all of this? Well, I have a couple of recommendations for you. The first is to visit our brand-new web site, where you will be able to send a letter to your state attorney general, asking for an immediate investigation of the financial activities of your state's Planned Parenthood affiliates.
The second action you can take is to contact Hamilton County, Ohio Commissioners Todd Portune and David Pepper, and ask them not to misappropriate tax dollars by giving them to an organization that protects racists, targets minorities and has a known pattern of misusing tax funding.

Todd Portune, (513) 946-4401, todd.portune@hamilton-co.org

David Pepper, (513) 946-4409, david.pepper@hamilton-co.org

Finally, be vigilant regarding your family; these wolves are all over the place these days, and their prey are falling at a rapid rate. Only with your efforts will this fraud be brought to an end.
