Promote the Real Needs of Women, Not Abortion |
|
June 12, 2009 Dear John, This past Wednesday night, the House voted to approve the Foreign Relations Authorization bill that will create an Office for Global Women's Issues. Under the leadership of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, this office will actively engage in the promotion of abortion in other countries. Earlier this year Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told Congress that she believes that reproductive rights are a fundamental policy goal and that abortion is a reproductive right. Under Clinton's leadership at the State Department, the newly created Office of Global Women's Issues will carry out her vision by advancing the legalization of abortion in pro-life nations around the world. This means that your tax dollars will help promote pro-abortion laws in foreign countries, particularly in the developing world. Americans should respond to women's needs in foreign countries with realy assistance that upholds their dignity, not by promoting or paying for abortions. During House debate over this legislation, Congressman Mike Pence stood up for pro-lifers when he said, "This legislation is embracing abortion rights overseas . . . and it advocates a set of values that are at odds with the majority of the American people. We deserve a foreign relations budget that respects our pocketbooks and our values. This does neither. I urge its rejection." We must not allow Secretary Clinton to use the State Department as a tool to spread her radical abortion views oveseas. Thank you for all you do for the unborn boys and girls around the world!

Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.
