ATLANTA, June 18 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Alveda King, Director of African American Outreach for Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will join other African American leaders on Capitol Hill today and tomorrow to celebrate Juneteenth and the premiere of the new film documenting black genocide in the 21st century, MAAFA 21.
"Juneteenth, the day slavery finally ended in the United States, was a turning point in the struggle for equal rights," said Dr. King. "It's appropriate that we honor that momentous occasion with the viewing of a powerful film that shows how the struggle still continues, as African Americans and all Americans press on to secure the most basic human right, the right to life."
MAAFA 21, a new DVD documentary about eugenics, abortion, and the African American community, will premiere tonight at 6:30 pm at the Capitol Visitors Center's Atrium and Auditorium following a 6:00 pm reception. Hosts include Priests for Life African American Outreach, Gerard Health Foundation, National Black Pro-Life Union, LEARN Network, and Students for Life. Honorary Host of the event is Congressman Trent Franks.
At noon tomorrow, the day of Juneteenth, a panel discussion and showing of MAAFA 21 will be held at the Cannon House Office Building's Caucus Room.
All events are nonpartisan and open to the public.
"MAAFA 21 must be seen by everyone who values freedom and equal rights," added Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. "I urge everyone in the Washington, DC area not to miss this chance to be among the first to see what everyone will be talking about."

Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.
