Chai Feldblum nominated to oversee workplace discrimination issues

WASHINGTON, Dec. 8 /Christian Newswire/ -- Does "sexual liberty" trump the Constitutional right to religious liberty? Chai Feldblum, President Obama's choice for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, believes so. This week a senate committee will vote on her nomination to this important commission that rules on issues of "discrimination" in America's workplaces.

Feldblum is the primary author of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), a bill designed to give preferential consideration to homosexuals in the workplace. She noted, "We want to change the American workforce and revolutionize social norms. ... Our current public policies undermine the moral and political unit of same-sex couples and families and that's a moral wrong that needs to be rectified."

She also said, "Marriage is not the only worthy form of family or relationship, and it should not be legally and economically privileged above all others."

Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC), sent a letter to senators today opposing Chai Feldblum's appointment. It notes:

"Chai Feldblum has a long history of radical ideology which would negatively shape the EEOC and its decisions. She flagrantly disregards the Constitutional right of religious liberty and attempts to replace this foundational freedom with her bizarre view of 'sexual liberty.'

"She has played a major role in pushing the homosexual and transsexual agenda on Americans, and has worked for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the radically pro-homosexual Human Rights Campaign Fund. She also founded the Moral Values Project, a 'gender equity' organization meant to sound conservative but determined to redefine the beliefs held by religious Americans.

"She was a clerk for Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun, the liberal judge who authored the infamous Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion-on- demand and inventing a 'right' to abortion that is not found in the Constitution. Feldblum praised Blackmun and demonstrated her support for judicial activism, which reflects how she would approach her role on the EEOC.

"CWALAC opposes Chai Feldblum's nomination because she has shown herself to be a biased activist who is all too willing to disregard the law and religious liberty in order to advance her own political ideology. Her decisions on the EEOC would have the real world effect of censoring religious people in order to further a personal agenda."

Concerned Women for America is the nation's largest public policy women's organization.
