Polls Show Voters Still Want ObamaCare Repealed, Scaled Back
The day before the House of Representatives is slated to vote for legislation to repeal the Obamacare health care law, new polling data shows Americans continue to support repeal, or at least scaling back the measure.

"Support for repeal of the national health care law passed last year remains steady, as most voters continue to believe the law will increase the federal budget deficit," pollster Scott Rasmussen said yesterday in talking about a new national poll his firm released.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows 55 percent of likely voters favor repeal of the health care law, while 40% oppose repeal. Some 40 percent of likely voters strongly favor repeal while 30 percent are strongly opposed — showing passion remains on the pro-repeal side.

Rasmussen also found voters now trust Republicans more on health care, the second most important voting issue when they ranked their top ten political issues, by a 52% to 38% margin. In December, Democrats had a slight 45% to 43% edge.

Meanwhile, a new Quinnipiac University poll of registered voters, also conducted in early January, shows voters support repeal by 48 percent to 43 percent with 8 percent undecided. Support for repeal is bolstered by independents who want the measure repealed by a 54 percent to 37 percent margin, with 9 percent undecided. Full story at LifeNews.com

Boehner, Pro-Life Group Use Emanuel Admission on Abortion, Obamacare
The office of Speaker John Boehner and pro-life groups have noticed comments from former Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel on the issue of abortion and health care.
During an interview with the Chicago Tribune editorial board, Emanuel said the executive order President Barack Obama signed to supposedly stop the abortion funding the health care reform measure would allow is not a federal law. He also essentially admitted it must not have been too bad because former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other top abortion advocates endorsed it.

The Speaker's office sent out this afternoon a fact check on the bill to repeal Obamacare that seized on the comments.

"In a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune editorial board, facing questions about his commitment to the pro-abortion cause, former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel emphasized that the Executive Order on abortion signed by President Obama in March 2010 – ostensibly to eliminate the need for the pro-life Stupak Amendment to be attached to ObamaCare – does not carry the force of law, and as such, has the seal of approval of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and others who oppose a ban on taxpayer funding of abortion," the document said. Obama Must Address Human Rights, Forced Abortions, With Hu
by Congressman Chris Smith
The following are the remarks given by pro-life Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey at a press conference today to call attention to President Barack Obama's visit with China President Hu Jintao, who is visiting in Washington this week:

Today we're here with some of the bravest human rights defenders and former political prisoners of the Chinese government, to talk about Hu Jintao's China – and to call on President Obama to raise human rights issues publicly and vigorously during Hu Jintao's visit to Washington.

Last month President Hu gave the world unmistakable proof of his government's moral puniness and fear – when he left the Norwegian Nobel Committee no choice but to place the Nobel Peace Prize on an empty chair – empty because Hu wouldn't let Liu Xiaobo, a proponent of gradual democratic reform, out of his prison cell to receive the prize. As most of you know, Hu even had Liu's wife and friends placed under house arrest for fear they would come to Oslo to receive the prize for him – in a country like China, it is inconceivable that the security and media campaign unleashed against Liu and his supporters wasn't approved at the very top. Pro-Abortion Republican Group Pressures New Chairman Priebus
Although most Republicans are pro-life, a political pressure group calling itself the Republican Majority for Choice is urging newly-elected republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus to include them as the party moves ahead.

RMC is asking Priebus to "remain true to the long standing GOP big-tent philosophy" claiming the "polarization of politics in our country and our own party has hindered progress on many fronts."

The pro-abortion group, in a statement to LifeNews.com, said it was "disheartened" to hear Priebus is strongly pro-life and his comment during the candidates' debate — he said people who are pro-abortion may not be Republicans — "left many pro-choice Republicans to believe they will not be welcome in the GOP under his leadership." ACLU Tries to Silence Catholic Bishops on Obamacare Rules
The pro-abortion ACLU legal group is trying to silence the nation's Catholic bishops when it comes the implementing Obamcare and ensuring the health care law does not fund contraception and birth control with taxpayer dollars.

Last week, the ACLU defended the inclusion of contraception in federally-mandated health coverage and criticized the Catholic bishops for asking for contraception to be precluded from coverage.

Last September, the bishops contacted the Department of Health and Human Services and asked Obama administration officials to not include contraception and birth control under the "preventative services" covered by the Obamacare law. They said preventing pregnancy is not similar to preventing disease and noted that birth control pills pose their own health risks for women.

HHS expects to issue guidelines on whether they will be included for public funding and that has upped the stakes as the ACLU issued a response to the bishops' letter. Full story at LifeNews.com

Stopping Abortion Starts With Focus on African-Americans
by Star Parker
A campaign launched in Los Angeles this week seeks to raise awareness to what is becoming known as "black genocide" — the devastation occurring in black America as result of abortion.

It's modeled after a highly successful similar campaign conducted in Atlanta earlier this year by Georgia Right to Life and the Radiance Foundation.

According to just released data from the Guttmacher Institute, 1.21 million abortions were performed in the United States in 2008. Some 30 percent of these abortions were performed on black women. With blacks accounting for about 12 percent of the U.S. population, the tragic disproportionate rate of abortion in this community is clear.

Seventy billboards will be posted around Los Angeles, with focus on neighborhoods with high percentage black population. The billboards show the face of a beautiful black child with a headline that says: "Black Children are an Endangered Species." Full story at LifeNews.com

Herman Cain: Defund Racist Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz
Herman Cain is a businessman who is the first Republican to start an exploratory committee to gauge the potential for running a campaign for the GOP nomination to take on pro-abortion President Barack Obama in 2012.

In a new interview, Cain tells American Family Radio's "Focal Point" program that he is pro-life and opposes the agenda of Planned Parenthood, the nation's biggest abortion business.

"I absolutely would defund Planned Parenthood — not because I don't believe in planning parenthood, [but because] Planned Parenthood as an organization is an absolute farce on the American people," he said.

Cain, who is African-American, accused the abortion business of engaging in a racist agenda. Full story at LifeNews.com

NARAL Report Ignores How Abortion Activists Losing Ground
by Luis Zaffirini
As part of its annual "Who Decides?" report on the state of abortion legislation in the United States, NARAL President Nancy Keenan penned a letter which attempted to reassure readers that the 2010 elections were more a reflection of American economic concerns that any other factor such as pro-life values and that young people are with them.

But Ms. Keenan's opinion seems starkly at odds with the evidence. For example there is national post-election polling which found that 30% of voters said that abortion affected their vote. Of that 30%, 22% said they voted for candidates who opposed abortion as opposed to 8% who vote for voted for pro-abortion candidates. This yielded a 14% advantage for pro-life candidates, more than enough to swing many close races. and that they voted for candidates who opposed abortion.

This doesn't even mention the impact of tremendous amount of attention focused on abortion in the debate over ObamaCare. In that same poll, 27% of voters said abortion funding in the health care law affected their vote and they voted for candidates who opposed the health care law. Only 4% said abortion funding in the health care law affected their vote and they voted for candidates who favored the law. Full story at LifeNews.com

Iowa Committee Holds Hearing on Abortion-Fetal Pain Bill
A legislative committee in the Iowa House held a hearing today on a measure that would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy based on the notion that unborn children feel intense pain. House File 5 would put in place a law similar to a bill approved in Nebraska that banned abortions for such reasons and was ultimately responsible for forcing late-term abortion practitioner Leroy Carhart to move much of his abortion business to Maryland, where he is now doing late abortions. Nebraska Senator Introduces Bill to Stop Webcam Abortions
It's official. Lincoln Sen. Tony Fulton has introduced his bill to ensure the controversial practice of telemed abortions don't cross state lines from Iowa to Nebraska. Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, in Iowa, has started a process that the national Planned Parenthood abortion business wants to take nationwide over the next few years. It calls for women to engage in a Skype video chat with a physician, who pushes a remote button and opens a box at a Planned Parenthood office where a staffer can give the dangerous drug to women.
