Lifeissues Newsletter #591 clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends For Life,

Several weeks ago, I received the following email from Janet E. Smith in which she states that there are more connections between contraception and the approval of same sex unions. Quote: "A few years ago I wrote a book, The Right To Privacy, in which I demonstrated how various court decisions linked contraception, abortion, assisted suicide and same sex unions. More recent cases again show the connections between approval of contraception and same sex unions: the willingness to disregard legislation altogether in favor of  "penumbra" or vague implications:
Griswold v. Connecticut, the 1965 case that overturned Connecticut's contraception ban and provided a crucial foundation for the deadly Roe v. Wade. In Griswold, the Court was undeterred by the total absence of textual constitutional support for its position because of, well, implications (or something). Recall these famous words?
The foregoing cases suggest that specific guarantees in the Bill of Rights have penumbras, formed by emanations from those guarantees that help give them life and substance.
The DOMA case doesn't contain this cringe-worthy language, but it does contain much the same cringe-worthy substance. In the absence of textual constitutional support, a court must necessarily grasp at straws in its quest to "do the right thing," and if implications are all it has, then implications will be enough.

God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(Homosexuality): "Can a Christian Be Homosexual" -  Ravi Zacharias - 35 year respected top religious scholar and speaker on Christ and Christianity and the Bible answers one of the tougher questions asked about Christianity and its "intolerance".

ITEM #1: The link between rented wombs and gay marriage

Supporters of same-sex marriage must recognise they face a serious moral dilemma. Cheap wombs might bring gay men the happiness of being the father of a child of their own. But the cost of that happiness is often borne by poor and uneducated women.

ITEM #2: The Gay Divorcees

Announcing the results of his long-term "evolution" on the subject last week, President Obama revived the debate over gay marriage. In the widespread discussion, however, there is one question that's rarely asked: How interested are gay couples in getting married?

ITEM #3: We Only Lose Marriage If We Spend All Our Time Saying We Will Lose Marriage

Opponents of marriage know their best chance at getting us to give up our beliefs and is to bully us into abandoning them.

ITEM #4: A crime against motherhood

Involuntary sterilization was a horrifying exercise in genetic engineering.

ITEM #5: The Pill Kills

Birth-control pills have always been considered low-risk, but it's not true when your wife, mother, or daughter suffers serious side effects - even death.

ITEM #6: Japan Shrinks

Many nations have aging populations, but none can quite match Japan. Its experience holds lessons for other countries as well as insights into the distinctiveness of Japanese society.

ITEM #7 Fifteen years later and silent no more...

The bumper sticker read, "Having an abortion does not make you un-pregnant, it makes you the mother of a dead baby".

ITEM #8: Girl violence and the parent gap

Violence among teenage girls - towards each other, towards strangers - is a growing problem in many countries.

ITEM #9: Philippine Senator Denounces Global Abortion Lobby

Senator Vicente C. Sotto III, one of the most popular and beloved politicians in the Philippines, is using all his clout to fight the latest attempt of the global abortion lobby to change his countries' laws to open the door for unfettered abortion. He has made it his "mission".

ITEM #10: Editorial: Delegates Beware on Sexual Orientation

The UN is in the midst of a multi-year campaign to regularize homosexuality and other behaviors in the scheme of international law. The skirmishes began many years ago with attempts by Brazil to place sexual orientation within a resolution at the Human Rights Commission in Geneva. This failed more than once but it was a testing motion to see where they stood.

ITEM #11: Pedophiles want same rights as homosexuals

Using the same tactics used by "gay" rights activists, pedophiles have begun to seek similar status arguing their desire for children is a sexual orientation no different than heterosexual or homosexuals.

ITEM #12: Exposure to Internet Pornography among Children and Adolescents: A National Survey

Estimates suggest that up to 90% or more youth between 12 and 18 years have access to the Internet. Concern has been raised that this increased accessibility may lead to a rise in pornography seeking among children and adolescents, with potentially serious ramifications for child and adolescent sexual development.
