Dear Friends,
Every
year, we send volunteers to some of the poorest areas in the world
through our Medical Volunteer Program. Our Medical Volunteers range from
young professionals just out of medical or nursing school to Nobel
Laureates and retiring doctors and nurses. They all have one thing in
common - they want to make a difference in this world. It costs us between $15,000 and $20,000 a year to support a volunteer and it's worth every penny.
Our Volunteer, Laura, working in Huancayo, Peru, recently shared this story with us:
“When
I turned 15, I was so excited to start my first job. It meant not only a
little money, but also independence! I have found a different and sad
reality in Peru. The kids here don’t work out of excitement, or
independence, but out of financial need. And when I say kids, I mean
kids. Some are as young as toddlers helping their mothers sell products
in the streets… for most of these kids, they are exposed to the weather.
And it gets cold – very cold…”
Can
you imagine what life must be like for these young children? CMMB knows
how important it is to care for them. That’s why we send volunteers
like Laura. Our
Medical Volunteer Program ensures there are dedicated volunteers like
Laura in place to make a difference within the communities we serve. And we need your help to make sure they succeed!
Please pray for our volunteers, and for the mothers and children they are serving. Make a generous gift today and help us allow our volunteers to continue their work to save the lives of innocent children.
Sincerely,
Bruce Wilkinson
