Breana Mckinnon, a registered nurse and CMMB's volunteer, recently completed a one-year deployment in Kenya.
During her time in Kenya, Bre was assigned a role in the maternity ward
of Tabaka Mission Hospital in Kisii. She witnessed how a chronic lack of
resources and extremely limited budget affected both the quality of
life and the health outcomes of many of her patients.
She remembers one day a mother arrived with her son, seeking treatment
for his dangerous bone infection. The hospital didn't have the
medication her son needed, and the mother was forced to leave the
hospital to try to find and pay for the expensive antibiotic her child
needed
