Our staff on the ground are witnessing
violence and massive displacement of people without food, water,
medicine and other basic needs in the Western Equatoria State of South
Sudan. Knowing these communities so well, our staff is heartbroken,
wanting desperately to help them at this critical time, but knowing
there are very limited resources available.
I am writing to you today
because the people we are serving together in this area are in imminent
danger, due to new outbreaks of violence in this formerly peaceful area.
Many have fled their homes, leaving thousands of families hungry, and
without access to safe water or any type of health service.
As one of the very few organizations providing relief and healthcare in South Sudan’s Western Equatoria State,
we need your help.
I humbly ask you to stand with the people affected by this violence and
insecurity, face down the inhumanities being committed and provide them
with critical, life-saving support. Amidst a backdrop of insecurity in
many areas of the world, we are called to remember the downtrodden, the
poor, and especially those whose daily horrors may not make it into the
daily press. After all the progress we have made together, the people of
South Sudan need us now more than ever.
“But if anyone has the world’s
good and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him,
how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in
word or talk but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18
