Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.

40 Days For Life: DAY 12: First abortion-free state?

When we have an abortion-free state, we can have an abortion-free region--and if we can do that, we can have an abortion-free country.

Getting the first abortion-free state is something we work at year-round...

...Missouri has long been a candidate to become America's first abortion-free state.

Now, recent news reveals that the end of abortion in the "Show Me State" is closer than ever before. According to the state's governor, only seven abortions have taken place in Missouri so far this year.

The loss of each of those seven babies is a tragedy that demands our prayers, fasting, and peaceful witness.

But as Columbia, Missouri leader Kathy observed, the number signifies major progress. Not long ago, more than 20 lives were lost to abortion every DAY in the state.

Kathy and her team are a big reason why abortion is on the brink of ending in Missouri. Relentless in praying for the closure of their Planned Parenthood facility, they've outlasted numerous abortion providers and continue holding vigil--even when the center goes extended periods of time without performing abortions.

Across the state, Brian and the St. Louis 40 Days for Life campaign run one of the nation's most effective sidewalk counseling programs. They've also helped document dozens of ambulance visits to Planned Parenthood. With a safety record like that, it's no wonder demand for abortion is drying up!

May the Show Me State soon show the world America's first abortion-free state!

Ann Arbor, Michigan

The Ann Arbor 40 Days for Life vigil holds a weekly Jericho March recalling the prayer marches in Scripture that brought down the walls of Israel's notorious enemy.

Sandie, the local leader, said that more than 200 pro-lifers joined the most recent march.

A photography student attended the event and shared some images of the day.

"The look is old school, I know, but I believe the seriousness of social protest movements lends itself [to] this type of imagery," he said.

Upland, California

Danielle in California does outreach to save moms and babies from abortion online.

In particular, she visits internet message boards for expectant mothers who've learned that their babies have catastrophic health conditions and encourages them to choose life.

Danielle has helped save 51 babies through this outreach and said that she has a lot more success empowering moms to choose life during 40 Days for Life campaigns.
