CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer 2/10/2013

Weekly Prayer Reflection for Winter
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here I am. Send me!'”

Isaiah 6:8

5th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Friends,
February 11th is a day in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes and also World Day for the Sick. We show our love and concern, our solidarity and sympathy for the sick by praying that God sends His healing power upon them.
But we might be able to do more. There is a story about Pope John XXIII being driven in a car in the city of Rome. A woman calls out, “Holy Father, please pray for my sick husband.” The Pope responds, “Yes I will, but we can do more. Come in. Let us go and visit him.” And off they go. Sharing in the work of the Catholic Medical Mission Board is one way of doing more. It involves praying for the sick and troubled, praying for doctors and nurses, and then if possible, it involves sharing resources so that the underserved of the world may be served.

Pope Benedict XVI

Lord Jesus Christ, You went about doing good and healing all manners of sickness. Give strength, wisdom and gentleness to all Your servants, our physicians and nurses, that they may not only heal but bless. May they shine as lamps of hope in the darkest hours of distress and fear. We ask this in Your name, You Who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen
