“Unusually slow day for abortions”

Family Planning Associates, San Diego, Saturday, October, 24, 2010

News from the Trenches

Perhaps it was the fervent prayers of the “40 Days for Life” prayer warriors that were praying almost around the clock at this abortuary and others across the country. Or perhaps it was the nearly 6,000 Rosary Rallies also held across the country the previous Saturday. The Rosary Rally held at this FPA abortion mill culminated in the sparing of one baby's life. Whatever the reason, this was an unusually slow day for abortions at this killing center.

Terry, a sidewalk counselor assigned to one of the entrance driveways, reported speaking only to one couple the three hours that she was on duty. The couple she spoke to were in their early twenties. They giggled nervously as the counselor related the malpractice history of the abortionist and related the horrific experiences that women who had abortions here had related to her. The young couple laughed when she showed them a photo of a 6-week-old unborn baby. The abortion-intent woman shared that she was seven weeks pregnant and that this would be her first abortion. Terry tried to dissuade them from the abortion and get them to call the Culture of Life Clinic, but in the end they entered the killing center without hesitation.

Luis, another sidewalk counselor, was able to get the attention of a young man who walking up the stairs leading to the killing center with his girlfriend. He came back down the stairs and read excerpts from the brochure about the abortionist that the counselor handed to him. He was very concerned about the malpractice information and said he would discuss it with his girlfriend. He rejoined her on the stairs and they entered the abortuary.

At the driveway Luis spoke with a young African – American couple. As the counselor spoke to the couple he noticed that there was a Rosary hanging from the rear view mirror and a funeral Mass program with the photo of an African American woman on the cover was on the dashboard. The counselor inquired about the funeral Mass program and if the young woman was Catholic. The young woman responded that she was not Catholic but that her grandmother, who’s photo was on the funeral program, had been. The counselor explained that in her grandmother's faith abortion is a mortal sin; in the eyes of God one of the worst things we can do. He told her that her grandmother would not want her aborting her grandchild. This made her think. The couple drove into the parking lot and sat in their car for some minutes. But finally they did enter the abortion mill.

Anne, a sidewalk counselor at another driveway, was able to speak with four abortion intent women.
The passengers of the first car that stopped for Anne were a young couple that looked over the information that she handed them and listened to her warnings but still went in. The abortion-intent mother in the second car that stopped for Anne appeared to be in the second trimester of pregnancy. She handed them the informational brochures, but they were unwilling to talk. The passengers of the third car that stopped were three hostile young women. Anne handed them literature, but the driver told her to get away. After dropping their friend off at the killing center they sped past the counselor throwing the crumpled up literature out the window.

The fourth car that stopped was an African American couple that was very open and horrified by the information Anne provided. They did not go into the abortion mill. The man wore a hat that read, “God Bless America.” The counselor said “God Bless you” as they drove off. Later Anne found out that they went to the Culture of Life Clinic that Anne recommended and chose life for their baby. Please pray for “L,” the mother who chose life.
