After Giffords Shooting, Blame Game Begins on Abortion
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head at close range outside a grocery store in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday morning as a gunman opened fire and shot her and more than a dozen other people.
Giffords was holding a public event at the grocery store, her first Congress on Your Corner event of the year designed to meet local constituents.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said the gunman, 22-year-old suspect Jared Lee Loughner, waited in line to approach Giffords and shot her in the head from about two feet away. Loughner then reportedly opened fire and at least six people were killed in Saturday s rampage, with 13 injured, including Giffords.

Federal Judge John Roll, 63, was among those killed, and he was stopping by the event on the way back from attending Mass. He had been appointed by pro-life President George Bush in 1991 at the recommendation of Sen. John McCain.

Church of Christ pastor Dorwan Stoddard, a 9-year-old girl who was shot in the chest, Christina Taylor Green, Dorothy Morris, 76, and Phyllis Schneck, 79, were among those killed in the senseless act.

The issue of abortion has been a significant one in the response to the shootings. Full story at LifeNews.com

Boehner Postpones Abortion, Health Care Votes After Giffords Shooting
Speaker John Boehner, the pro-life Republican who heads the House of Representatives, has postponed votes originally planned for next week on repealing the ObamaCare health care law and stopping funding of the pro-abortion group Planned Parenthood.
Boehner put off the legislative agenda Congress had planned for next week following the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, a Democratic congresswoman from Arizona who supports legalized abortion.

Giffords was shot at a community event in her Arizona congressional district and was severely injured after a shot to her head at a range of two feet.

The shooter, believed to be 22-year-old suspect Jared Lee Loughner, waited in line to approach Giffords, shot her, and also shot approximately 20 other people. At least six others were killed and 13 injured in the tragic incident.

Responding to the Arizona shooting, Boehner expressed words of sympathy and condolences to the families of both Giffords and the other victims, including federal Judge John Roll, appointed by pro-life former President George Bush. Full story at LifeNews.com

First Chapter of Abby Johnson s Planned Parenthood Book Unplanned
LifeNews.com is pleased to present the first chapter of Abby Johnson s book Unplanned. Johnson is the former director of the Planned Parenthood abortion business in Bryan, Texas.
She had a change of heart after agreeing to a request to assist in an abortion procedure and has now converted to the pro-life position.

CHERYL POKED HER HEAD INTO MY OFFICE. Abby, they need an extra person back in the exam room. Are you free?

I looked up from my paperwork, surprised. Sure.

Though I d been with Planned Parenthood for eight years, I had never been called into the exam room to help the medical team during an abortion, and I had no idea why I was needed now. Nurse-practitioners were the ones who assisted in abortions, not the other clinic staff. As director of this clinic in Bryan, Texas, I was able to fill in for any position in a pinch, except, of course, for doctors or nurses performing medical procedures. I had, on a few occasions, agreed at a patient s request to stay with her and even hold her hand during the procedure, but only when I d been the counselor who d worked with her during intake and counseling. That was not the case today. So why did they need me? Full story at LifeNews.com

Romney Leads Republicans in New Hampshire, Ahead in Nevada
New polls released in New Hampshire and Nevada reveal good new for the potential presidential campaign of Mitt Romney.

The New Hampshire Journal poll, conducted by the Republican firm Magellan Strategies, shows Romney with a 23 percentage point lead over his closest competitor, pro-life former vice-presidential running mate Sarah Palin.

The polling numbers break down this way: Romney 39%, Palin 16%, pro-life former candidate Mike Huckabee 10%, pro-life former House Speaker Newt Gingrich 8%, pro-life Congressman Ron Paul 7%, pro-life Minnesota Gov. As Roe Abortion Case Turns 38 Millennials Join Pro-Life Side
Twenty-three-year-old Pennsylvanian Abigail Kiehl has never known a time when abortion wasn t legal. Yet, when she s not planning parties, making jewelry, or writing, she s working within her church to educate members of her congregation about what she views as the civil rights struggle of her generation: Ending abortion.

I used to think that I was too young to be involved with pro-life, Abigail says. But I have seen how abortion affects every age, race, and gender. Therefore I have given it my face and voice.

Abigail has been motivated to lend her talents to a local pregnancy resource center and become involved in grassroots pro-life advocacy. She s seen first-hand the heartache and tears which, she says, shroud abortion.

I cannot bring back life that is gone, but I can be a voice of truth, Abigail points out. Full story at LifeNews.com

Poll: Huckabee Leads Iowa, Pawlenty Climbs as Name ID Rises
Iowa leads the presidential race with a star poll this year and the first caucus vote of the 2012 Republican presidential primary early next year.

A new poll conducted by a GOP firm, Neighborhood Research, shows pro-life former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee leading the pack with the support of 24 percent of Republicans.

Another new survey, a national one produced by Gallup, shows Huckabee enjoys a better name ID and is more well-liked than other potential Republican presidential hopefuls.

Last time around, Huckabee finished in first place with a surprising victory over his better-funded and better recognized opponents. Should he run again, he now enjoys a 99% name recognition in the state and will likely have a better fundraising apparatus in place to make himself a viable contender in the Midwest state that is home to a large contingent of pro-life and conservative Republican voters. Marco Rubio Not Interested in 2012 Vice-Presidential Slot
Marco Rubio is the highly-regarded new pro-life Hispanic U.S. senator from Florida who many political observers say is on the short list for a vice-presidential slot in 2012. No longer. Rubio, who is attractive because of his social and fiscally conservative views and his status as a Latino with excellent communications skills who could appeal to Hispanic voters against pro-abortion President Barack Obama, says he s not interested in being the running mate for a presidential hopeful in the next election. Dubuque, Iowa Could be Next Location for Telemed Abortions
Leading pro-life advocates in Iowa are concerned the Planned Parenthood abortion business may be bringing telemed abortions to Dubuque. Telemed abortions are those where women visit an abortion center and aren t allowed to meet in person with a physician before taking the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug, as the FDA recommends. Instead, they are only given access to a doctor over a Skype computer connection before being prescribed the drug that has killed potentially dozens worldwide and injured more than 1,100 in the United States alone as of 2006, according to the Food and Drug Administration. After new statistics from the New York City health department revealed 41 percent of pregnancies in the Big Apple ending in abortion, pro-life advocates are holding a rally against a bill that would hurt pregnancy centers trying to lower the figure. The city council is considering a measure that would place stringent limits on the advertising pregnancy centers use and require them to post signs designed to dissuade women from seeking their abortion alternatives services.
