Dear CNS Member, Wow, this summer is hot! As you'll read in Renewal Report, we're praising and defending the Catholic University of America's plan to revert to single-sex dorms… responding to the latest assault on Catholic colleges' religious liberty… and exposing professors who support physician-assisted suicide, immediately following the bishops' strong stand on that issue. We're also thrilled to have received the following note from Bobby Schindler, the brother of Terri Schiavo whose feeding tube was removed in 2005 against her family's wishes. The Schindlers have since helped more than 1,000 families and intervened in hundreds of court cases through Terri's Life and Hope Network. (Sign up for their newsletter at www.terrisfight.org). Image via Wikipedia Terri's Life and Hope Network would like to express our deepest gratitude to The Cardinal Newman Society... ...The cruel and torturous death of my sister Terri was used by liberal Catholics, the national media and the "partners" of the culture of death to desensitize our nation to the egregious act of imposed death and assisted suicide to package "state-sanctioned" starvation and dehydration as "compassion". ...Despite the facts surrounding Terri's death and the teachings of the Catholic Church on these types of issues, Catholic universities and professors continue to push to their students heretical advocacy for assisted suicide and for the killing of our cognitively disabled. We are very blessed to follow the lead of The Cardinal Newman Society in holding these individuals and groups accountable to Catholic teachings and the proper formation of college students who are the future opinion makers and legislators of America. It is only by this type of dedication in education that we can hope to remain a nation that is willing to protect every single life. Bobby is a real hero. We need more like him—Catholics who are prepared to confront secular culture with courage and fidelity. Please pray that our Catholic college graduates will be inspired to Catholic leadership. Thank you for your prayers and support of our work to ensure faithful Catholic education for future generations—we sure need them! May God bless you! Sincerely yours in Christ, Click here to make a donation to The Cardinal Newman Society. Click here to read your Renewal Report newsletter online. The Cardinal Newman Society |
Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.
