Herman Cain Backs Human Life Amendment Banning Abortions
In an new interview, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain says he would support a Human Life Amendment to the U.S, Constitution that would ban abortion by protecting unborn children under law.
Cain has advanced the pro-life cause throughout his political career but came under fire this past week when he gave an interview to CNN on Wednesday in which he used typical pro-choice language about government not making abortion decisions for women that applied, depending on the listener, to either abortions in the case of rape and incest or abortion policy in general. Either way, pro-life advocates have been disappointed following the comments and they have called on Cain to clarify the comments which he did in a short message on twitter later in the day saying he is 100% pro-life.
Cain, later Thursday, released a statement saying he is fully pro-life, saying he will appoint the kind of judges who would be inclined to consider reversing Roe v. Wade, and adding that he opposes taxpayer funding of abortions or the Planned Parenthood abortion business. He followed that up with a Fox News interview on Friday where he said he repeatedly that he wants abortions to be made illegal.
Now, in a new interview with David Brody of CBN News, Cain says he would support a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution to afford legal protection for the 1.2 million unborn children who die in abortions annually since the Roe v. Wade decision.
Are you for some sort of pro-life amendment to the constitution that in essence would trump Roe v. Wade? Brody asks.
Yes. Yes I feel that strongly about it. If we can get the necessary support and it comes to my desk I ll sign it. That s all I can do. I will sign it, Cain responds. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/23/herman-cain-backs-human-life-amendment-banning-abortions/
40 Days for Life Sees 361 Moms Change Their Mind on Abortion
It s Monday. But that s OK. During 40 Days for Life, Mondays bring GOOD NEWS! So here is your Monday good news so far during this 40 Days for Life campaign, we are now aware of 361 babies whose mothers changed their minds and rejected abortion!
God has done wonderful things! Here are a few of the stories.
COLUMBUS, GEORGIA
People praying at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Columbus had a bad feeling when a young woman arrived on an abortion day. They had seen her previously and tried to convince her not to abort her child. But here she was once again. She went in but a short time later she left calling out that she had changed her mind. The volunteers put her in touch with the local pregnancy help center and promised to keep her and her baby in their prayers.
Later that day, two teenagers drove in but walked on in after refusing to take information from one of the pro-life counselors. An hour later, they walked out and handed the volunteer a receipt. At first, she didn t look at it.
One of the other vigil participants then called out, They ve changed their minds! Yes they were BOTH there for abortions and they BOTH chose life. I didn t get a chance to look at the receipt until that evening, the volunteer said. The driver had had an ultrasound and lab work but first trimester abortion $385 had been scratched out. Praise God! http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/24/40-days-for-life-sees-361-moms-change-their-mind-on-abortion/
Perry, Bachmann Stress Pro-Life Views, Hit Cain on Abortion
Republican presidential hopefuls Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann appeared at the Iowa Faith and Freedom dinner over the weekend along with other GOP candidates and they used the opportunity to talk about their pro-life views. They also went after Herman Cain, who recently made some controversial abortion remarks.
Perry said he has long been a pro-life advocate and, without naming his opponent, wrapped pro-life Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain for his comments last week suggesting that government have no role in the abortion debate. Cain has later clarified his comments by saying he wants abortions to be illegal and supports a Human Life Amendment protecting unborn children.
It is a liberal canard to say, I am personally pro-life, but government should stay out of that decision, Perry said, according to the Washington Post. That is not pro-life. That is pro-having-your-cake-and-eating-it-too.
Being pro-life is not a matter of campaign convenience. It is a core conviction, Perry continued. When it comes to faith, it is the core of who I am. It is an essential act as much as breathing is an essential act. I found the true source of hope and change, and that is a loving God who changes hearts of stone into hearts of flesh. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/21/national-right-to-life-herman-cain-is-fully-pro-life/
CBS Criticized for Claiming Abortion-Breast Cancer Link False
CBS News is facing criticism from a women s group that educates about the link between abortion and breast cancer because it recently ran a story supposedly debunking falsehoods about breast cancer that claims the link is false. That s even as one of the top breast cancer surgeons in the nation points out that 53 of 66 studies concerning breast cancer and abortion published in medical journals in the last 54 years shows the link exists.
Myth: Having an abortion raises your risk of getting breast cancer, CBS News writes. Reality: Because abortion is believed to disrupt hormone cycles during pregnancy and breast cancer is linked to hormone levels, numerous studies have investigated a causal link but found no conclusive evidence for one. h
The CBS News publication of the 25 myths is a reproduction of a document at Health.com that makes the same erroneous and misleading statements about the abortion-breast cancer link.
Karen Malec, the head of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer organization, noticed the CBS News and Health.com publication, which she says have damaged their credibility by publishing statements that falsely claim the abortion-breast cancer link is a myth. She challenges both organizations to a debate over the issue.
We expect CBS News and Health.com to duck the challenge, just as other organizations have whose leaders would rather see women die of breast cancer than expose the truth that abortion is not safe, she told LifeNews. After behaving like snipers, they cut and run. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Texas Abortion Docs Face Hearing for Massive Violations
Five Texas-based abortion practitioners are the first of a group of 10 total who will face disciplinary hearings for massive violations of state abortion and patient laws following an undercover investigation launched by two pro-life groups.
Operation Rescue and The Survivors conducted a statewide investigation that consisted of recorded phone calls to abortion businesses and combing through dumpsters located outside them. In total, the probes found abortion practitioners and their staff violated informed consent laws and the state s 24-hour waiting period before an abortion. They also found staff coached minor girls to cross state lines to avoid Texas parental notification laws, ignored cases of child sex abuse, illegally disposed private patient information in violation of HIPAA, improperly handled and disposed of controlled substances and the remains of aborted babies, and maintained their facilities in substandard conditions.
Five of the abortion practitioners are scheduled to appear before the Texas Medical Board on Friday to answer to allegations of wrongdoing based on complaints filed by the groups following their three-month investigation. Robert Hanson, Alan Molson, William W. West, Jr., Franz Theard, and Douglas A. Karpen are slated to appear. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/24/texas-abortion-docs-face-hearing-for-massive-violations/
Committed to Ending Abortion: Not by Using Violence
Should breaking the law be advocated to advance the cause for life? Should violence be encouraged, condoned, or celebrated to further the cause for life? No, and no.
The pro-life movement has made great strides on the long road toward ending abortion in the United States especially in the past few years. The zeitgeist is shifting, as evidenced by a CNN poll just last month that found 62% of Americans want abortion to be illegal in most or all circumstances. This finding dovetails nicely with the passage of the partial-birth abortion ban, ultrasound laws, and the proliferation of the 40 Days for Life peaceful prayer vigils that report hundreds of pregnant mothers turning away from the clinics and choosing life for their babies. These successes have been the culmination of countless hard-working people dedicated to tirelessly pursuing lawful avenues to bring about the end abortion in the United States.
We are winning, and should stay the course.
Even humorously suggesting a return to the era of blockading entrances to clinics or occupying the waiting rooms of abortion clinics leads down the slippery slope to further lawlessness: harassment, intimidation, vandalism, and eventually (and inevitably) violence. These tactics are morally wrong and produce dubious results. What is certain is that breaking the law in an effort to stop abortion tarnishes the movement, alienates those on the fence (or newcomers to the fold), and worst of all it provides our pro-abortion opposition a speedy on-ramp to the high road and fosters a comrades-in-arms mentality that unifies their ranks and galvanizes public opinion in their favor. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/23/committed-to-ending-abortion-not-by-using-violence/
Forced Abortions Make a Mockery of Pro-Choice on Abortion
It is not unusual for men to try to coerce their partners into having an unwanted abortion. In fact, according to the Elliot Institute, which deals with post-abortive women, 64% of women who have abortions claim that they were pressured by other people (usually their partners) into having them. So much for women s choice!
So it s no real surprise to find out that a British man has taken coercion one step further he drugged his pregnant fiancée with an abortion pill, causing her to miscarry.
The woman, who has not been named for legal reasons, was rushed to the hospital with severe bleeding, were she found out that her baby had died. She was forced to undergo an emergency operation and required a blood transfusion of two pints of blood.
She did not know the cause of her miscarriage until months later, when she overheard her fiancé bragging to someone over the phone about slipping the abortion pill to her without her knowledge. She reported the crime to the police, who arrested him. It is not clear at this point where he acquired the abortion drug. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/24/forced-abortions-make-a-mockery-of-pro-choice-on-abortion/
Her Fireman Died: Reflecting on the Value of Human Life
Her fireman died. These were the poignant words of my three-year old, as he pointed to a woman in the grocery store. He was not aware of the weight of his statement, of course. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/24/her-fireman-died-reflecting-on-the-value-of-human-life/
Renaming Indian Girls, From Unwanted to Beautiful and Good
Many people think that sex selective abortion is only a problem in China where the one-child policy forces couples to limit themselves to one child. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/23/renaming-indian-girls-from-unwanted-to-beautiful-and-good/
Lingle Faces Pro-Abortion Mazie Hirono in Hawaii Senate Race
After Senator Daniel Akaka announced earlier this year he would not seek reelection in 2012, few envisioned Hawaii as a battleground in 2012. But after the entrance of popular former Governor Linda Lingle (R) into the race last week, polling shows the GOP may have a shot at flipping the seat from blue to red. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/24/lingle-faces-pro-abortion-mazie-hirono-in-hawaii-senate-race/
Must-See Video of Pro-Lifer Jon Scharfenberger in Action
I was at the wake today for Jon, and will drive back up for the funeral mass in the morning. I sat here tonight and watched this video of Jon doing his thing for SFLA s Pregnant on Campus Initiative, which he was directing. This is masculinity in action; gentle strength born of a life lived in union with his God. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/22/must-see-video-of-pro-lifer-jon-scharfenberger-in-action/
RH Bill a Threat to Life and Family in the Philippines
People of good will throughout the world should be aware of a great threat to the children and families of the Philippines. Filipinos are overwhelmingly Catholic (81%) and pro-life. Because of this fact, and because they are still having children, they have become a target of international population control organizations and pro-abortion groups. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/23/rh-bill-a-threat-to-life-and-family-in-the-philippines/
