United Way Sent $1.9 Million to Planned Parenthood in 2008
Each fall, United Way focuses on fundraising campaigns. Most people encounter these requests for giving through their workplace. The United Way encourages individuals to donate to a variety of local charitable organizations or to the United Way itself.

Each local United Way determines whom they will support through their grant programs and their lists of charitable organizations in the area. While most United Way organizations claim they do not fund programs for abortion services, in truth, some do support Planned Parenthood or other abortion-advocate agencies. The national United Way does fund Planned Parenthood; their website states:

No United Way funds are currently used, or have ever been used to support abortion services. Several United Way partner agencies provide professional family and individual counseling services that include professional counseling on pregnancy-related problems.

United Way funded programs through Planned Parenthood include community health maintenance, e.g. communicable disease prevention; medical care service; family planning; health education; public awareness services; and family preservation and strengthening services, e.g. counseling and family life education. Nationally in 2008, local United Ways distributed an estimated $1.9 million to Planned Parenthood agencies. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/24/united-way-sent-1-8-million-to-planned-parenthood-in-2008/

Pepsi Shareholders Demand It Stop Using Aborted Fetal Cells
Pepsi shareholders have filed a shareholder resolution with the Securities and Exchange Commission and PepsiCo demanding that the company has been contracting with a research firm that uses fetal cells from babies victimized by abortions to test and produce artificial flavor enhancers.

As recently as May, Pepsi ignored concerns and criticism from dozens of pro-life groups and tens of thousands of pro-life people who voiced their opposition to PepsiCo contracting with biotech company Senomyx even after it was found to be testing their food additives using fetal cells from abortions.

The company s key flavor programs focus on the discovery and development of savory, sweet and salt flavor ingredients that are intended to allow for the reduction of MSG, sugar and salt in food and beverage products, the Senomyx web site says. Using isolated human taste receptors, we created proprietary taste receptor-based assay systems that provide a biochemical or electronic readout when a flavor ingredient interacts with the receptor.

Debi Vinnedge, of the pro-life group Children of God for Life, explained, What they don t tell the public is that they are using HEK 293 human embryonic kidney cells taken from an electively aborted baby to produce those receptors. They could have easily chosen animal, insect, or other morally obtained human cells expressing the G protein for taste receptors. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/25/pepsi-shareholders-demand-it-stop-using-aborted-fetal-cells/

My Mother Died From Breast Cancer, But I Won t Support Komen
In May 1990, my mother lost her 7 year battle with breast cancer at the age of 57. It was an unspeakable loss for me.

My father and I cared for her together at home until the end. For many years following, I generously supported Susan G. Komen and Race for the Cure. Each year, my family would walk in memory of my mother and to honor others who still struggled.

A few years later, my eyes were opened to the irony of the Komen/Planned Parenthood Connection and I withdrew my support.

First, I understood that Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the world. Second, I realized that abortion had been linked to breast cancer for years and the research continued to become more clear. And third, I learned that Susan G. Komen contributed over $3 million dollars to Planned Parenthood between 2003 and 2008. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/25/my-mother-died-from-breast-cancer-but-i-wont-support-komen/

Sebelius Document Destruction Delays Planned Parenthood Case
The pre-trial hearing for the felony prosecution of Planned Parenthood of Mid-Missouri Kansas has been delayed for another 2 weeks because 23 Planned Parenthood-specific state abortion reports have been discovered as destroyed.

Judge Stephen Tatum granted the continuance due to the state s plea that only recently had they learned that crucial evidence for proving a forgery original copies of those state late-term abortion compliance reports from Planned Parenthood had been destroyed in 2005 by the state of Kansas Health department (KDHE) under Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

Despite requests, the KDHE has not yet issued a public comment on this bombshell that it had actually destroyed selective documents.

Back in 2005, Sebelius was losing her fight to keep various subpoenaed state information relevant to illegal post viability abortions away from then-Attorney General Phill Kline. Kline had attained what s called probable cause that crimes had been committed and was seeking patient files. But he had also seen copies of these state compliance reports which bore no patient names but were important because they had been filed with bogus language where legitimate medical reasons were supposed to have been supplied. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/24/sebelius-document-destruction-delays-planned-parenthood-case/

Media Promotes Left-Wing Panic Over 7 Billion People
Halloween is traditionally a night of witches, ghosts, and monsters. But for environmentalists and their media allies, an even bigger scare is coming this Halloween: the birth of Earth s 7 billionth resident.

On Oct. 31, 2011, world population will reach 7 billion, according to the United Nations. For many people, this milestone is a cause for celebration and a human triumph. But for environmentalists on the radical left, the ever-growing legion of consuming humans is a harbinger of impending doom. The Washington Post cautioned that ecological distortions are becoming more pronounced and widespread. Already the media are warning that population could more than double by 2100, according to a new UN report.

The media have long promoted overpopulation panic rampant among prominent voices in the environmentalist movement. James Lovelock, the founder of Gaia theory, fretted over too much economic success: there are too many [people], doing too well economically and burning too much oil. American biologist Paul Ehrlich made a series of fantastic predictions, including the claim: I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/24/media-promotes-left-wing-panic-over-7-billion-people/

Sorry David Frum, Battle to Stop Abortion is Here to Stay
Sometimes pro-abortion proponents are so blinded by ideology that they can t see the obvious. Take David Frum. The CNN Contributor wrote a far-fetched article titled, What if abortion became a non-issue? He claimed that incredible as it sounds now there is reason to expect that the abortion issue may someday just vanish from national politics. After all, that s what happened to the last great moral issue to rattle the American party system: alcohol prohibition.

Sorry David, but that s a logical fallacy. Abortion is a human rights issue. And while human rights issues are, by nature, also moral issues, the distinction is profound.

Alcohol prohibition banned the manufacture, sale, or transportation of alcohol. But the manufacture, sale, or transportation of alcohol, on its own, was not a violation of the human rights of another human being. Alcohol prohibition, therefore, was solely a moral issue. In contrast, abortion is a direct violation of all the human rights of another human being, including the fundamental right to life. Amazingly, Frum failed to make, or even mention, a distinction between moral issues and human rights issues. He simply assumed, falsely, that abortion is solely a moral issue.

Because of Frum s bias, he completely ignored the more accurate comparison. The last great human rights issue was discrimination, sanctioned by law, against African Americans, which included segregation, and ultimately produced the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/25/sorry-david-frum-battle-to-stop-abortion-is-here-to-stay/

New HBO Drama Wichita Modeled on Abortionist George Tiller
HBO will soon be airing a new dram titled, Wichita that will be modeled on the life and death of late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller, who was ultimately shot by a vigilante gunman, Scott Roeder.
Although Roeder was not affiliated with nor representative of the pro-life movement, which employs peaceful and legal ways of opposing abortion, the drama may very well make it appear otherwise. The Wichita Eagle newspaper has more information on the new program:

True Blood creator Alan Ball has a new project in the works called Wichita. That, of course, had been what the Tom Cruise flick Knight and Day had once been tentatively titled. This Wichita is a far different drama.

The Hollywood Reporter says Ball will executive produce the HBO show that s based on the life of abortion provider George Tiller. The Reporter describes Wichita as an hourlong drama about a Kansas surgeon who inadvertently becomes the focal point of a contemporary political, cultural and ethical war. Ball is developing the show with Devin Friedman, who wrote a 2010 GQ story about Tiller titled Savior vs. Savior. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/24/new-hbo-drama-wichita-modeled-on-abortionist-george-tiller/
