Partial Reversal of Obamacare Won t End Abortion Funding Concerns
With the Supreme Court expected to issue its decision on the Obamacare health care law on Thursday, the question for the pro-life movement is whether the decision will mitigate the concerns about abortion funding.

Democrats in Congress approved the Obamacare law without any language in the legislation preventing abortion funding. Despite claims from pro-life Democrats who voted for the Obamacare bill, the law allows for abortion funding and pro-life groups warned about such abortion funding during the debate leading up to its passage. In the Senate, Democrats turned back the Nelson amendment to stop taxpayer funding of abortions in Obamacare and the final bill Congress approved and President Barack Obama signed never contained any abortion funding limits.

Obama officials rely on the disproved argument that Obamacare, and a subsequent executive order Obama signed related to it, prohibit taxpayer funding of abortions under the law, even though pro-life groups almost unanimously say the bill and the order are not sufficient to stop abortion funding. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/25/partial-reversal-of-obamacare-wont-end-abortion-funding-concerns/

Woman With Down Syndrome Carries Olympic Torch to London
Now this is something inspirational that can get the world motivated for the upcoming Olympic games in London.

Recently, one of the torchbearers for the 2012 Olympics was Amy Hopkin, who has Down Syndrome. As the folks at Pro-Life UK noted, Amy clearly has a great zest for life and strives hard, as her own sporting record shows. Yet original medical prognosis was all doom and gloom. It is great that Amy has been so well supported by her family so that she and they have been able to show what is achievable. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/25/woman-with-down-syndrome-carries-olympic-torch-to-london/

Pro-Lifers Wait for One of the Biggest Abortion Decisions, Obamacare
Where were you on January 22, 1973? The day the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were announced by the Supreme Court which made abortion legal, in all 9 months for any reason, in our nation.

I wasn t born yet, but I can imagine what it must have been like for pro-life advocates to wait for that decision and all the emotion they must have felt afterwards. Because I feel like that today.

At this moment, I am standing in front of the Supreme Court with the rest of our team and missionaries on Capitol Hill. Waiting. Waiting to see if today is the day that we find out whether or not Obamacare is constitutional. And whether or not our rights of conscience and freedom of religion will continue to be defended by those charged to protect them. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/25/pro-lifers-wait-for-one-of-the-biggest-abortion-decisions-obamacare/

Sarah Palin Doubles Down on Obamacare-Death Panels Charge
Three years ago Sarah Palin made waves with charges that the Obamacare health care bill would lead to death panels that would rationing medical treatment and lifesaving medical care for patients.

In August 2009, Palin posted a well-received note on Facebook saying she worries the health care bill will be paid for on the backs of the elderly and disabled, who could be pushed into euthanasia and assisted suicide via rationing of medical treatment.

And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course, she said. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/25/sarah-palin-doubles-down-on-obamacare-death-panels-charge/

Mother Dies Who Spared Her Baby From Abortion When Cancer Struck
28 year-old Chiara Corbella has died and at her funeral in Rome, there was joy amid the sorrow. In fact, there was a kind of triumph, of love over life and life over death one of those contradictory signs that makes no sense to an efficient world but is transcendently reasonable to the mind of faith:

Chiara was happily married to Enrico Petrillo. They had already suffered the loss of two children [born with birth defects] in recent years. . .The couple became popular speakers at pro-life events, in which they shared their testimony about the few minutes they were able to spend with their children, David and Maria, before they died.

In 2010, Chiara became pregnant for the third time, and according to doctors the child was developing normally. However, Chiara was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and was advised to begin receiving treatment that would have posed a risk to her pregnancy. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/24/mother-dies-who-spared-her-baby-from-abortion-when-cancer-struck/

Abortion Clinic Mocks God, Offers Sunday Discounts
Upset that pro-life advocates are increasing their presence at abortion clinics on Sundays to help women find abortion alternatives and pray, abortion facilities are apparently now offering women coupons for reduced-cost abortions on the holy day.

Tim Tebow s Mom Keeps Pressing Pro-Life Cause
Pam Tebow, the mother of well-known pro- football player Tim Tebow, continues to press the pro-life message at pregnancy centers events across the country. Sharing her amazing story of rejecting an abortion and giving birth to Tim, Pam Tebow continues to help such centers raise critical funds necessary to reach women with abortion alternatives.

On Friday, Pam Tebow attended the event entitled, An Evening with Pam Tebow, sponsored by The Pregnancy Care Center of Martinsville and Henry County. The local newspaper has more on some of her talk. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/24/tim-tebows-mom-keeps-pressing-pro-life-cause/

Pro-Life Wisconsin [an American Life League Associate group] has unveiled a brand new crisis pregnancy website. The website,crisispregnancies.org, is designed primarily to be used by those with smartphones (iPhone or an Android operating system, for example). It is also accessible by computer. The website utilizes a mapping feature to list nearby crisis pregnancy centers, along with the harms of abortion and fetal development information. There are endless opportunities for this new website----sidewalk counselors can use it to find and locate a nearby crisis pregnancy center, students in class can use it to discuss the harms of abortion or counsel an abortion-minded friend.

Kansas doctor unapologetic after board revokes license amid debate over abortion referrals
The Washington Post
A Kansas doctor remained unapologetic Friday after state regulators revoked her medical license over allegations that she performed inadequate mental health exams on young patients she then referred to Dr. George Tiller for late-term abortions. Dr. Ann Kristin Neuhaus and other abortion-rights supporters described the action against her by the State Board of Healing Arts as part of ongoing efforts to limit access to abortion that also shadowed Tiller before his murder in 2009 by a man professing strong anti-abortion views. Neuhaus immediately said she would ask the state's courts to overturn the board's decision.

World Health Organization publishes manual on best ways to kill unborn babies
LifeSiteNews
The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a guide detailing the most effective ways to kill unborn children, with different methods at various stages of the unborn child's development. The document is the second edition of "Safe abortion: technical and policy guidance for health systems" which was originally published in 2003. . . . The guidelines include four main topics: estimates on unsafe abortion worldwide, the latest clinical recommendations to perform abortions, recommendations for "scaling up" services, and advice on policymaking and legislation. The last of the four areas is not one usually found in medical advice documents, but WHO stresses the application of a "human rights framework" to advance pro-abortion policymaking and legislation----especially for young women.

San Marcos sidewalk counselor had right of way

The following came from a June 20 press release from the Life Legal Defense Foundation.

Police cited a sidewalk counselor engaged in peaceful educational activities for failure to yield to a motor vehicle. Lif Legal Defense Foundation’s review of the incident revealed that the sidewalk counselor actually had the right-of-way under the law.

Unfortunately, pro-life activists in San Marcos, like those in many other cities, have undergone harassment at the hands of law enforcement who do not view their message favorably.

Life Legal’s senior staff attorney Allison Aranda represented the pro-life advocate, and pointed out to the judge that she had the right-of-way under the law. The baseless citation was dismissed, and the sidewalk counselor is now free once again to share the message of life on the public sidewalk.

“Unfortunately we have seen this type of baseless citation used as a favorite weapon with the pro-abortion crowd,” comments Dana Cody, Life Legal’s president and executive director.

“But we are ready to stand up and represent these champions for the unborn, and in this case rejoice that it was as simple as the proper application of the traffic code.”

The Nativity of St. John the Baptist
Dear John,
Like John the Baptist, we are called upon to be LIGHT, light that is stronger than darkness. One elderly women, who had a rough day, knew how best to react. She didn’t give up, she didn’t go into a shell. Rather, she explained: “The darker the night, the brighter you got to shine.”
One bright light has been the work of Catholic Medical Mission Board. Reaching out with a helping hand to those in need, as CMMB has done for the past 100 years, is surely one way to overcome the darkness and let the light shine!

Almighty God, by Whose providence Your servant John the Baptist was wonderfully born, and sent to prepare the way of Your Son our Savior by preaching repentance, make us follow His teaching and holy life. May we follow His example and constantly speak the truth, boldly rebuke vice and patiently suffer for truth’s sake. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
