Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends For Life,

Consistent Life President Bill Samuel shares this message he sent to President Obama:

“Mr. President, when you spoke about the tragedy at the school in Connecticut today, you captured the feelings of millions. . . . What puzzles me is why you can't understand that parents in Afghanistan, Pakistan and everywhere around the world feel for their children like you do for yours.

Yet you continue to order actions which kill many times the number of children that deranged man did today. Why are you so wedded to violence? Can't you see that we must turn from the way of violence in all areas - foreign policy, treatment of the unborn, treatment of offenders, etc. - if we are to have a better world?”

Mike Wittmer has written an interesting December 17 [blog] relating abortion and gun control.

National Catholic Reporter has [an article] connecting the kinds of violence a solution of nonviolence.

God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(Life): "Photo of Baby Reaching Out From Womb During C-Section Goes Viral"A new photo of a baby reaching out of the womb and holding a doctor's finger during a Caesarian section delivery has gone viral and is being passed around Facebook by tens of thousands of people.

ITEM #1: Planned Parenthood: More Dead Children and Largest Budget Ever

"For decades now, Planned Parenthood has operated the most proficient killing machine in the United States," said Douglas R. Scott, Jr., president of the Planned Parenthood watchdog organization Life Decisions International (LDI). "And the machine has set yet another record."

****************************************

ITEM #2: South Korean youth population to be halved by 2060

South Korea's low birth rate means the size of its youth population - those aged between nine and 24 - will be slashed in half by 2060, a government report warned Monday.

****************************************

ITEM #3: India's children lost in the black hole of prostitution and human trafficking

With at least 11,228 children reported missing in 2011, West Bengal is the state with the worst record in the country. Because of widespread poverty, rural families often sell their children hoping they would have a better future. However, children usually disappear for good. An underage prostitute can earn up to 80,000 rupees (US$ 1,500) a month.

****************************************

ITEM #4: 'We were blessed to have met them': Parents of preemie triplets find meaning in the unthinkable

At a subsequent visit, doctors spoke to the parents about "selective reduction," but the couple would hear none of it. Even though Marie was a trained nurse and knew that doctors would ask this question, it stung her to hear someone so unconcernedly offer to "kill one or two of my children."

****************************************

ITEM #5: Stop Funding Planned Parenthood, Does 1 Abortion Every 94 Seconds

A leading pro-life member of Congress who is behind legislation to revoke taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business is not happy about the new annual report it released. Planned Parenthood's numbers reveal it does one abortion every 94 seconds.

****************************************

ITEM #6: Euthanasia Movement Promotes "Kill Me" Living Will in Australia

The euthanasia movement rarely tells the full truth about its objectives. Activists pretend that their goal is only to legalize "voluntary" terminations, or in the USA, to restrict killing to the already dying whose suffering - a very elastic term in euthanasia advocacy - cannot otherwise be controlled.

****************************************

ITEM #7 Pornography - the latest youthful addiction

A significant item in a recent Television Jamaica late night news bulletin, stated that pornography had become the latest addictive pastime among teenagers. Pornography is defined as: "the explicit description or exhibition of sexual activity in literature, films etc, intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings" (OED). This is the second occasion in recent times that this issue has seriously attracted public attention, particularly parents with teenage children. Parental influence is the first and most formidable bulwark against this maleficent aberrant force.

****************************************

ITEM #8: Graphic Autopsy Images Released of Woman Dying From Legal Abortion

A pro-life group has released the graphic images today of a woman who was killed in a botched legal abortion. The group says they are some of the first images ever seen publicly of a woman who was brutalized by an abortion that claimed her life.

****************************************

ITEM #9: Planned Parenthood: $1.2 Billion "Nonprofit," $542 Million From Gov't

Americans often look with disdain on people who continually live off of government assistance. While those from left to right would generally concur that welfare programs can be helpful for those in times of crisis, the majority of people grow weary, and even angry, when people live off of Uncle Sam for years on end. This reality makes it a mystery of why the tolerance of Planned Parenthood's dependence on Uncle Sam (and Uncle Obama). As we reported, Planned Parenthood's latest annual report for the 2011-2012 reporting year shows that abortions were up by a few thousand.

****************************************

ITEM #10: Abortion nurses in Japan suffer 'compassion fatigue,' burnout

Japanese nurses and midwives involved in abortion are showing signs of "compassion fatigue" due to beliefs that the aborted babies actually deserved to live, according to a new study from Kanazawa University.

****************************************

ITEM #11: The faces of poverty in Myanmar

Despite Myanmar's reforms and abundant resources, a third of its people live in extreme poverty.

****************************************

ITEM #12: Have India's Poor Become Human Guinea Pigs?

But behind the angry protests is an even deeper story: the preference for male babies in India and much of the world may be at the root of this senseless violence.
