On this
21st World Day of the Sick, we'd like you to join us in reflection and prayer for all those who suffer, but also for those who work in health care ministries, especially our own Medical Volunteers.
We would also like to take this time to reflect on today’s announcement of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI’s retirement. In the World Day of the Sick Message from the Vatican, His Holiness states:
“… I would like to offer a word of warm gratitude and encouragement to Catholic health care institutions and to civil society, to Dioceses and Christian communities, to religious congregations engaged in the pastoral care of the sick, to health care workers’ associations and to volunteers. May all realize ever more fully that ‘the Church today lives a fundamental aspect of her mission in lovingly and generously accepting every human being, especially those who are weak and sick’ (Christifideles Laici, 38).
I entrust this Twenty-first World Day of the Sick to the intercession of Our Lady of Graces, venerated at Altötting, that she may always accompany those who suffer in their search for comfort and firm hope. May she assist all who are involved in the apostolate of mercy, so that they may become good Samaritans to their brothers and sisters afflicted by illness and suffering. To all I impart most willingly my Apostolic Blessing.”
All of us at CMMB wish to convey the same gratitude to His Holiness for his leadership in ensuring God’s most vulnerable children receive care and comfort. Please join us in taking a moment to pray for our brothers and sisters who are suffering in the developing world and also pray for His Holiness who has ministered ceaselessly to provide comfort and care to those in need. If you wish, make a special gift to CMMB today in honor of Pope Benedict XVI.
May God bless you for all you have done to support our mission.
Sincerely,
