Unsafe water causes so many preventable diseases
. Collins, an eight-year-old from Kenya, had never been in a real bathroom in his entire life.
When Bre, a CMMB volunteer, showed him running water from a faucet for
the first time, he was enchanted. And when Bre answered his question, “I
can drink it?” with a yes, Collins’ smile was truly something to
behold. It’s such a simple thing to be able to turn on a faucet, and
have clean, safe drinking water available. It’s something we all take
for granted.
But
to Collins, clean, running water is a miracle. To CMMB, it’s a step in
the right direction toward helping women and children lead healthier
lives. As many as 3.5 million people die every year from diseases caused
by unsafe water. Diarrhea — which is easily prevented with clean water
and basic sanitation — is the second leading cause of death in children
under the age of five.
Your support can make a difference. Together, we can provide clean water
sources for health facilities in Kenya, build safe latrines and
“clean-water corners” in homes in Peru, and train healthcare workers to
prevent children from getting water-related diseases in Haiti.
Help CMMB provide clean water to families in need. Your donation will be
matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000, through September 30. Take
advantage of the special matching opportunity and double your support
for women and their families!
