WASHINGTON, Aug. 6, 2015 /Christian Newswire/
-- Majority Leader McConnell and Speaker Boehner fail to provide
leadership and clarity in the defunding of Planned Parenthood.
Speaker Boehner has declined to say he
will schedule a vote on cutting off funds to Planned Parenthood or if
he will refuse to pass any legislation that funds them.
Senate Majority Leader McConnell could
have attached the defunding of Planned Parenthood to a Senate
transportation bill but blocked it.
Both Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader
McConnell are refusing to go on record saying that Planned Parenthood
will not receive one penny of public funding even if it means shutting
down the government.
Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition and longtime pro-life activist and leader, states;
"It is extremely troubling and
disturbing that both Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader McConnell are
failing to provide the proper leadership and clarity in the defunding
of Planned Parenthood.
"For example, Majority Leader
McConnell could have attached the defunding of Planned Parenthood in
the transportation bill, but blocked it instead. Rather, he chose to
have a free standing vote to defund Planned Parenthood knowing he
didn't have the 60 votes needed for it to pass.
"After the release of exposé
videos of Planned Parenthood being involving in the trafficking of
aborted baby parts, Speaker Boehner refused to schedule a vote on
defunding the largest abortion provider in the world. His only response
to the horrifying videos was the public statement, 'facts first.'
"The pro-life community is simply
asking that both Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader McConnell go on
the public record and state that no piece of legislation that funds
Planned Parenthood will pass in Congress.
"If Congress approves over
$500,000,000 to Planned Parenthood, it will be impossible for
Republican leadership to say they are pro-life and that they embrace
justice and human rights for all."

Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.
