“A most unusual day”
Just eight women show up at San Diego abortion center on normally high-volume day
Family Planning Associates, San Diego, Saturday, March 28, 2009
Both David and I felt this Saturday was a most unusual day.
Arriving at 8 a.m., we were blessed with three public prayer warriors. Two were the young men who conduct Catholic retreats we had just met the week before. There were only about eight women who entered FPA between 8 and 10:30 a.m. By 8:45, two prayer warriors had to leave and one prayer warrior remained. It would be approximately two hours before another prayer warrior came out to FPA today. It was during these two hours that we were blessed with two, possibly three turn-arounds.
The first turn-around was a Spanish-speaking couple. The man in the car couldn't roll down his window, so he opened his door, and told me they had an appointment and had to go in. However, when I told him about the abortionist's horrific medical history (with the help of the Spanish flier), concern began to show on his face. After explaining a little about Culture of Life Family Services and the competency of Dr. George Delgado, without regard to cost, they both appeared to visibly relax. Expressing gratitude, he drove in and then out, very slowly, and did not return.
The second turn-around was almost identical to the first. However, this time it was a man and woman who came in a truck. Both of them spoke Spanish and this time the man took all the information (in Spanish) quickly, as well as listened to the information about Dr. Delgado and how Culture of Life Family Services could help them. He asked me about costs and, though I don't speak Spanish, thankfully, the Holy Spirit helped me effectively communicate to him they need not be concerned about costs. After giving him the card for COLFS, I spoke to him, as best I could, of the competency of Dr. Delgado and his staff. He then expressed his gratitude, drove in very slowly past the parking spaces (almost as if they were still making up their minds), then slower, past FPA, and then quickly, out the side exit and never returned.
While David was at the exit driveway, he saw a car pull into the lot and park. A man and woman got out, as well as an elderly lady who was driving. After speaking for a few minutes, the older lady hugged both of them, then they all got back inside the car and drove off. David gave them a Rosary on the way out, but was not able to obtain any details on what happened. We don’t know if they intended to go into the clinic or not, but we know they did not go in.
What made this day unusual was the low number of abortion-intent women going into FPA (eight), having only one public prayer warrior the majority of time, and both of us feeling the strong presence of Jesus Christ in this spiritual battle immediately after we were finished counseling, especially with the turn-arounds. Though there's always a spiritual battle when we are at FPA, we aren't always as conscious as we were today of the Omnipotence of Almighty God, and our insignificance, in this battle. Thankfully, today, it felt crystal clear.
When we left, the second shift of prayer warriors was just arriving. They usually stay about one hour.
Thank you to all those who prayed or offered sacrifices for the unborn today, and to the prayer warriors who came out to FPA and supported us. Praise God and Our Lady of Guadalupe, two, possibly three, of God's Precious Infants were saved through your prayers and sacrifices!
In Christ through Mary,
