“If you live in Iowa or surrounding areas, this might be the most important meeting you attend this year!” –Troy Newman, President, Operation Rescue.

Des Moines, Iowa – A coalition of local and national pro-life groups will hold a Town Hall meeting in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 22, 2010, to educate and equip pro-life supporters to oppose telemed abortions in Iowa and plans to expand the dangerous push-button abortions nationwide.

The Town Hall Meeting will follow a public hearing to be held by the Iowa Board of Medicine earlier in the day where potentially new public policy guidelines regarding telemedicine will be discussed.

The IBM meeting, which will include public comment time, will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Quality Inns & Suites Conference Center located at 929 3rd Street in Des Moines.

Details for the Pro-Life Town Hall Meeting are as follows:

Date: Friday, October 22, 2010
Time: 5:30 pm
Place: The Downtown Church, 323 East Locust Street, Des Moines, Iowa

Invited speakers include Congressman Steve King, Senator Brad Zaun, Attorney General candidate Brenna Findley, and Lt. Governor candidate Kim Reynolds.

Also scheduled representatives of pro-life groups who are leading the opposition to are Troy Newman and Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue.

“We encourage everyone who can to spread the word and come out to both meetings and voice their concerns about telemed abortions that are clearly in violation of current Iowa law,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

“So often we have seen medical boards sweep abortion abuses under the rug because they think the public will never know, but that can’t happen if the people are well informed and outspoken. The Iowa Board of Medicine needs to know that we are watching them and will hold them accountable to do their duty under the law.”

The Pro-Life Town Hall is sponsored by Iowans for L.I.F.E., Iowa Right to Life, Dubuque County Right to Life, and Operation Rescue.
