HLI Accelerates US Outreach Program
Hispanic outreach, young scholar community, educational programs among new HLI America initiatives
FRONT ROYAL, Va.,
July 6, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- "We are extremely pleased to announce that
Arland Nichols is taking the helm of HLI America, Human Life International's (HLI's) primary outreach to its home nation," said Monsignor Ignacio Barreiro-Carámbula, interim president of HLI. "Since HLI was founded by Fr. Paul Marx thirty years ago, our mission has been to educate and motivate people of all ages to engage the culture in love and truth. Under Arland's leadership, HLI America continues in that tradition by reaching out to scholars, students, clergy, parents, and all who are engaged in the struggle to defend life and family."
"Arland brings with him not only excellent academic credentials, but also great experience as an educator, speaker, and writer," said Monsignor Barreiro.
Nichols has developed and begun implementing a program for HLI America that will focus on outreach and education to five primary constituencies: Hispanic Americans, Catholic families, college students, clergy and educators, and the medical community. Among the programs to reach these groups will be conferences, Spanish-language life and family courses, and young scholar and fellow initiatives.
"Our recent Popes have consistently stressed that the 'drama of our time' is the split between faith and culture. Blessed John Paul II called for a 'New Evangelization' so that this split might be repaired, and so that we might more readily defend the dignity of the person and promote the true good of marriages and families," said Nichols. "This is the urgent task of our time."
Nichols also emphasized: "I have been blessed to receive a great deal of support and interest in the programs of this apostolate, so I am excited to hit the ground running with the prayers and support of so many. I encourage Catholics everywhere to find out more about HLI America and join us for discussion at our new 'Truth and Charity Forum' which can be found on our website,
www.hliamerica.org."
