Women Having Abortions Up Premature Birth Risk 34% Next Time
A new study conducted in the United Kingdom finds women who have abortions are 34 percent more likely to deliver a baby prematurely when they become pregnant the next time and to suffer from other pregnancy complications.
Sohinee Bhattacharya, who led the research at the University of Aberdeen, examined more than 1 million pregnancies in Scotland over 26 years and he found that women who have one abortion increase their risk of premature birth in a subsequent pregnancy 34 percent. Women who have a historic risk of giving birth prematurely up that risk another 73 percent when they have an abortion.
The risk is increased enough, because of the abortion, that 10 percent of all women who have an abortion will give birth prematurely in their subsequent pregnancy that they carry to term, the researchers found.
The results, first reported Tuesday in the London Times, show the risk of premature birth in a pregnancy following an abortion increases substantially when women have more than one abortion. For the hundreds of British women who have four abortions or more, 20 percent of all women seeing to give birth will deliver prematurely, and premature births lead to an increase in the risk of newborn children having physical or mental disabilities.
According to the Times, the study also found that, when it comes to premature birth, surgical abortions are more troublesome for women than abortions using the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug (which has killed dozens of women and injured more than 1,100 in the United States alone). The results indicate women having surgical abortions are 27 percent more likely to have give birth prematurely.
Because of the previous abortion, the study also found women, in a next pregnancy, suffer from higher risks of stillbirth and pre-eclampsia, the blood pressure disorder that can further increase the risk of premature birth and occasionally threaten the lives of mothers and children. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/06/women-having-abortions-up-premature-birth-risk-34-next-time/
Abortion Backer Attacks, Injures Pro-Lifers in Violent Assault
A pro-abortion activist assaulted and injured peaceful pro-life advocates in a violent attack that occurred outside a late-term abortion business in New Mexico.
A woman who claimed to be a supporter of abortion engaged in the attack, which occurred yesterday outside Southwestern Women s Options, a late-term abortion center where pro-life advocates have been offering information about alternatives to women headed there for abortions. The attack resulted in bloody wounds for one pro-life advocate.
According to Operation Rescue, a pro-life group working with the pro-life advocates at the abortion facility, the woman was angry and told the pro-lifers that she had once had an abortion. She then began to viciously punch and kick Bud Shaver, a former Operation Rescue intern, and a pro-life woman named Chris. The post-abortive woman used her keys as a weapon and inflicted a deep gash on Shaver s head that paramedics said required stitches.
Shaver, who works with Project Defend Life, began videotaping after the attack began, but images he captured show an angry and violent flurry of punches and kicks as the pro-lifers threw up their arms to defend themselves. After the attack, the woman walked into the abortion center, but she left moments later and drove away before police could respond to Shaver s 911 call for help.
Shaver told Operation Rescue that the woman was a passerby that stopped, but she did not appear to be headed to the abortion business or working at it as a staffer or volunteer. Petition Campaign Asks Obama to Protect Pro-Life Doctors
The Christian Medical Association today sent pro-abortion President Barack Obama a letter on behalf of 61,154 individuals who signed a petition urging him to uphold and enforce conscience rights in health care.
The issue is especially important for faith-based physicians who say they will leave medicine if forced to compromise their life-affirming ethical convictions by having to participate in or refer for abortions. They also want to be protected from having to give women drugs that might cause an abortion.
I write to urge your support of conscience-protecting measures in law and in regulation to help put a stop to discrimination against life-affirming healthcare professionals, and to protect healthcare access for the millions of patients who depend upon their often charitable services, Dr. David Stevens, the head of the Christian medical group, wrote in a letter accompanying the petitions.
The petition signatures came through the CMA-managed Freedom2Care coalition and they urge Obama to preserve the only federal regulation protecting conscience rights in health care.
Unfortunately, your administration recently gutted that regulation, Stevens noted. That decision leaves many healthcare professionals wide open to discrimination you can read their personal stories. Scare: Pro-Life Group Receives Letter With White Powder
A national pro-life organization has received a letter containing white powder a scary situation that could mean the use of biochemical agents like anthrax or merely a scare tactic aimed at intimidating recipients.
Cheryl Sullenger, the deputy director of Operation Rescue, told LifeNews.com that the director of a central Kansas pregnancy center located next door to the national office of Operation Rescue opened an envelope from France that contained only white powder. Some of the powder puffed out of the envelope after it was opened. The director double bagged the envelope and took it to OR director Troy Newman to get his opinion on what to do. Newman immediately called the FBI.
Now we are locked down and they have set up hot, warm, and cold zones around the building, Sullenger explained. We are concerned that the package was meant for us and that they sent it to the the wrong building. The package is still on the porch of the building, which formerly housed an abortion business,and yellow crime scene tape surrounds the Operation Rescue headquarters.

NARAL Wants Taxpayers to Fund Abortions, Calls It Birth Control
The pro-abortion organization NARAL has begun a campaign to have birth control placed under the preventative care umbrella of ObamaCare. If successful, there would no longer be copays required on birth control prescriptions. While NARAL glorifies what no-cost birth control would financially mean for women, Pro-Lifers are aware that there are many more complex issues involved. NARAL is potentially opening the door for taxpayer funding of not only contraceptives, but abortifacients.
NARAL s Birth Control for Me, or BC4ME, campaign involves their website and several social media sites. A mass email alerted NARAL members that if the Obama administration classifies birth control under preventative care, then it would essentially become no-cost for millions of women. There are already several slogans associated with BC4ME, such as, women no longer have to choose between birth control or their bills.
The email then directs the reader to a new NARAL Facebook application that calculates how much money you-or your wife, partner, friend, sister, granddaughter, niece, etc.-could save with free birth control for life. This application asks for a current age and what type of birth control is being used. There is also a field for the number of additional kids you d like to have for a more accurate estimation of lifetime savings. After receiving your savings amount, you are encouraged to sign NARAL s electronic petition to let the Obama administration know you support no-cost birth control.
The application also invites users to share a picture of themselves and what they intend to do with their savings. The current photo shows a family shopping with the caption, Buy groceries for you and your family for 6 to 12 months. Rush Limbaugh: They Wouldn t Care if Casey Anthony Had an Abortion
Rush Limbaugh, the conservative radio talk show host, focused in on what many pro-life Americans have been thinking in the wake of the decision by a jury to find Casey Anthony not guilty of killing her two-year-old daughter.
Limbaugh put forward the notion that many pro-abortion Americans wouldn t be outraged about the verdict and about the death of Casey s daughter if she had had an abortion instead.
You know, what I don t understand about it is they re [the media] all card-carrying liberals. When does the death of a child bother them? I ve never seen them get so upset over the death of a child, Rush Limbaugh said about the Casey Anthony verdict in his monologue on Wednesday.
If the child had died, what, two years earlier in the womb this woman would be a star. She d be a hero. And folks, I don t think that is a cliche to say. And I don t think it is as cheap attempt at humor. Still Not Free At Last: NAACP Ignores Abortion Epidemic
Purpose is impossible without freedom. As one who was adopted and an adoptive father, I know the beauty of possibility and the passion with which people of every race defend human life in all of its stages.
It s a favorite talking point for abortion apologists, but I know of few pro-life people who are single-issue minded. As if having a singular focus on a human injustice is something to be ashamed of, anyway. Abolitionists had a singular focus to abolish the inhumanity of slavery. Perhaps they should have first worried about housing, health care, job opportunities, and equal pay before they embarked on such a narrow-minded mission.
History is anathema to the abortion industry. Those pesky little historical facts just get in the way of higher profits and abortion quotas. July is the anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which attempted to eradicate some eugenics-based social policies (i.e. Separate But Equal) that dehumanized people of my complexion.
